This Barra guy keeps saying things are going to be announced "later today" or some such... when clock is this guy running on? The word is that the Dempsey tribunal isn't until next week, so an official signing announcement would need to wait until after that.

I could see where Gooch got signed, but for the time being is working on his fitness with SL until all the paperwork is processed. It would be a good use of the Boa Morte money to help sign Gooch and get somebody who'll get truly stuck in on the back line. I however, also pose the question somebody else pointed out, can we have 4 Americans on the field at the same time? I thought there was some rule about having only some many non-EU players on the field or dressed for a game or some such. Anybody know the details of these rules?

I think Fulham are doing well, bringing in Dempsey and Gooch, along with the Montella and possible a few other players, it looks pretty good. Who is going to fill in on the left and anybody know more about the rumor that Routledge has been asked after (but after missing those chances against Chelsea, I can't imagine why) :)

I think it might be something to do with all the money WHU is splashing around now. I remember there was talk about them being bought by some new investor, did this happen? Some guy from Iceland or something, was it? I haven't really paid close attention... but like Pompey, new owner/investor means that they going to throw money around to make the team rise up, and perhaps Boa like the sound of it (and probably got a very coosh contract as well).

Dempsey's appeal has supposedly been verbally approved - but i think the actual announcement is to be done Tuesday next week.

As for Gooch, the ball is simply in Liege's court. we will have to wait and see.

This pains me to say, but West Ham is a much bigger club than Fulham. No matter what your criteria (fan #s, size of stadium, silverware, etc., etc., etc.). Just because West Ham doesn't have as much pedigree at the moment doesn't mean that historically time in the east end doesn't look better on the resume than time in Fulham. Of course, there was also a time where West Ham was a bigger club than Chelsea as well so I guess I could say the whole SW of London.

I'm going to attempt to do a complete recap of the Fulham transfer news so far for this crazy window.

    1. Vicenzo Montella is signed, sealed and delivered on a 6-month loan. He may get to play today against Leicester City in the FA Cup.

    2. Luis Boa Morte is gone to West Spam United. Officially for an "undisclosed" fee. Reported fee is around £5 million.

    3. Mark Crossley's loan to Sheffield Wednesday has been extended for the remainder of the season.

    4. Michael Timlin's loan to Swindon Town extended until the end of the season.

    5. Ricardo Batista's loan to Wycombe Wanderers extended for the remainder of the season.

    6. Clint Dempsey reportedly to Craven Cottage for £1.5 million. The deal has been agreed upon with only the work permit status standing in the way. It is rumored that he has been verbally approved but official approval is not expected until next week (Tuesday I think).

    7. Oguchi Onyewu reportedly to Fulham for £1-1.5 million. The personal terms have been agreed to with only the transfer fee between Standard de Liege and Fulham FC to be finalized. Depending on who you put your faith in, this deal has been reportedly "stalled" at times but I still think (and hope) it goes through.

    8. Collins John reportedly to . . . somebody in the Premier League (Watford anyone?) for reportedly around £2 million. These reports have been bounced around as a go and no go for a while. It appears the club involved has agreed to a fee for the young dutchman but it appears personal terms are the holdup at this point.

Okay - here is where it starts to get fishy, questionable, and downright wierd. Take these with a grain of salt and at your own risk.

    9. Freddy Eastwood from Southend United to Fulham for £2.5 million. Cookie has flat out denied it. Wouldn't surprise me but don't count on it.

    10. Elliot Ward from Coventry City to Fulham. Cookie denied this link as well. I would list this as very doubtful.

    11. Danny Murphy from Tottenham Spuds to Fulham. Cookie denied anymore interest in Murphy. I wouldn't quite be shocked if this occurred.

    12. Reports of Fulham talking to Che£$ki about loaning Lassana Diarra to us for the remainder of the season. Seems unlikely - but we shall see.

    13. Niclas Jensen to . . . someone. Almost assured of leaving the Cottage I imagine. I believe Denmark clubs have been mentioned.

    14. Zakuani loaned out to someone. Rumored that Colchester, Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace are interested in his services.

    15. Fulham reportedly looking into Newcastle defender Titus Bramble. Please, dear God no . . .

    16. Per Nilsson from Odd Grenland to Fulham FC for £1.5 million. I think Cookie basically laughed at this one. Hell no.

    17. Ray Jones from Queens Park Rangers to Fulham. Youngster (18) would create a bit of a logjam and would sit on the bench. Doubtful at best.

    18. West Spam reported to make a bid for Moritz Volz. I'd be more than shocked if Moritz leaves for West Spam. Don't think Volzy is going anywhere.

    19. Hayden Mullins from West Scam to Fulham. Def Midfielder. Not sure about this one. I know very little about the 27 year old.

    20. Simon Davies from Everton to Fulham. I seriously doubt this one. With Dempsey and Diarra and Murphy rumors flying - I find this one as the least likely.

    21. Mika Vayrynen from PSV to Fulham FC £3 million. This is an old old rumor. I find it quite unlikely.

    22. Patrick Kisnorbo from Leicester City to Fulham. I doubt it. A bit of an old rumor.

    23. Shaun Maloney from Celtic to Fulham. I don't think so. Another old rumor.

    24. Tomáš Ujfaluši from Fiorentina to Fulham FC. I find this quite doubtful. I think £3.5 million was the rumored fee. With the Gooch rumor now on fire, I don't think this is an option any longer. Fulham inquired about him but Fiorentina said no.

    25. Matthew Ethrington from West Spam to Fulham as part of the Boa Morte deal was rumored. I no longer think this one is viable. I would list this as possible.

Okay. I think the top 6 are a done deal. Gooch is very likely. CJ out is also probable at this point. As for the rest, Ethrington in, Diarra in, and Eastwood in are the most likely in my opinion. We might see Tony Warner go back out on loan again - perhaps back to Elland Road - but not until Niemi is healthy. I think Nic Jensen is as good as gone at this point. I think Volz out is the most unlikely - followed closely by Davies, Vayrynen, Maloney, Nilsson and Ujfaluši in. Outside of those 6 moves, i wouldn't be shocked by any of the rest - although most of the moves are for youngsters that would build us for the future.

Yea, letting go of Volzy would be a very bad idea. He's been doing so well for us and at his age he'll likely only get better.

    Nice work on the summary...

here's a link to the Routledge rumor, as I was curious if I remembered it correctly or if I had made it up, I went looking for it and wanted to share:
    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=398726&cc=5901

The article talks about a lot of signings potentially, which I just have a hard time believing considering how Watford is struggling this season. I'm just speaking from my perspective if I was a player... I don't think I'd be keen on going to Watford, knowing it would take a miracle to escape relegation with just half a season to go and that my team would drop within 6 months.

Teamtalk says the bid for John is £3.25 million. Jensen's mentioned Copenhagen. Jones re-signed for QPR.

Yes. Eggert Magnusson. You often see him attending matches these days.

WHUFC could use him as (sadly) right-back (currently occupied by Spector) has been a weak link all season. With Rosenior camping out at right-back and some midfielders coming on board, wouldn't rule it out.

Everyone here assumes the Russians are behind the Icelandics.

Eastwood would be awesome, he's a real character. Again seems unlikely. I'd hate to see John go; he's the only one with real pace in attack.

do we forget that rio ferdinand, frank lampard, joe cole, michael carrick, jamie carragher, jermain defoe all came out of west ham - the latter four played for a team that got relegated, believe it or not.

Sky Sports has nothing in their little transfer rumor mill about Gooch. There is a section for every team and it makes no mention of him.

Fantastic news. Let's hope he sees some playing time on saturday against the Hammers. I heard from elsewhere he won't start until the 20th against Tottenham Hotspur, but I don't know how crediblethat comment was. I also don't know his fitness level right now, although his website/fansite says he's been keeping in shape in preparation to play.

Reports in Poland are linking Fulham with Radoslaw Matusiak, 25-year old striker and Polish international. Transfer fee: £2,3 million.

Heard you are bidding for Robert Green, and if you wait till summer your gonna try for Scott Carson. Who do you like more?
