The last appearance of Rossi in a Geordie kit will be against the Evertonians.

    Everton v Newcastle United
    Saturday 30 December 2006 15:00

Referee: Dermot Gallagher (I thought he quit?)

    MAGPIES WAIT ON DUO

Newcastle United boss Glenn Roeder will make late checks on goalkeeper Shay Given and stand-in full-back Nolberto Solano ahead of the Barclays Premiership trip to Everton.

Left-back Celestine Babayaro is recovering from a hamstring tear and Damien Duff has suffered a reaction to his knee surgery.

    5 million was awfully cheap...

    Thx,

    Jay!

This is his retirement season. Though Neil Warnock said he should quit straightaway after the Everton-Sheff Utd game earlier this season.

Anywho, looks like this is the 2:30 EST delay game on FSC this week. Means I don't have to get up at the butt-crack of dawn to watch it. :D

    Ouch. thanks for the spolier....:(

No offense but can we make some kind of rule here that if a game is on tape delay on TV, and we are losing--badly, no posting until the game is on TV...?

Now I have no reason to watch...

    Thats a stupid rule.

There is a reason why the [R] is in the thread title.

That is correct. If there is an [R], that serves notice that scores WILL be posted.

Today was just plain sad. Even worse than against Bolton. Looking ahead to ManUre at home, perhaps?

Do you not know what [R] means??

You shouldn't have to apologize, if people don't want to know the result, they shouldn't go to threads that have [R] tags.

If a game is on tape delay, I just dont go to any football sites at all until I have seen the game.

Best that if you don't know a score stay off soccer sites and better yet stay out of game threads. Poor game.

That's my approach. Though today I wish I would have just looked and saved myself the trouble.

Parker was inspired as ever. Emre posed an offensive threat, when he wasn't being a bitch, but his deliveries into the area were consistently lacking. Dyer would have been more impactful if the service would have been decent.

Butt did admirable at CB in the second half.

    Milner was our best player.

Martins was terrible. That penalty miss was as bad as I've seen, and then he started to force things and got in the way of his teammates on more than one occasion, then got upset at them when it got ********ed up.

The defense wasn't that bad except for four set-pieces (the goals and Davies' screamer which went just wide). Given didn't have anything to do except pick the ball out of his net three times. You'd figure that after the third time of Everton playing a direct pass on a corner, however, that we would have stationed a couple of people on the top of the box.

Sibierski was, as against Bolton, a complete waste of space. Though he came on for Ramage, who wasn't much better.

Never noticed Huntington aside from the yellow card. That's a good thing in my view.

We bossed them for about an hour, then seemed to mail it in after the second goal. Neville's third was lucky, but disappointing. We have to get something from Monday's game or we might find ourselves back on the scrap-heap.

    Very disappointing result.

Of course its a stupid rule, please read my reply carefully.
note the "?" at the end and note the absoultely ridiculous statement:
there is no <snark> feature here...I was annoyed by our poor performance in the game and not by IWA.

I apologize for being snarky. Next time I will be more careful so you lot dont go dont go biting my head off.

IMO before watching teh game I expected the worst. After watching it I realized we played fiarly wellexcept that we are shite on set pieces both for and against. Its cheeky to say but we did well except for the their goals, we were moving it around teh midfield pretty well and controlling their offense. But WTF who is letting Maritns and Dyer constantly attempting to dribble it thru?

Piss poor. I was visiting my Grandparents and was fortunate (well maybe unforunate) enough to catch EPL highlights on a Spanish station.

God Bless it I didn't expect such an absolute piss poor result against Everton.

Well, looking up we're going to stuff Man U at home.

If the loss isn't bad enough, the Independent reports that Everton fans heard Emre making racist comments during a half-time confrontation in the tunnel.

Just read that as well. Are we really going to trust Everton fans though?

Considering I've seen Emre headbutt someone on the pitch and smack a couple of other players on the back of the head, I don't know what can or can't be put past him.

Wasn't he complaining that someone on the Reading bench made racist comments to him a couple of weeks ago?

    Racism charge for Emre

I don't get this. First Roeder says that Emre has no case to answer, and that Everton don't want to go any further, and Everton seems to echo that stance. Then the FA basically demands that Everton testify and they decide to charge him. I'm not condoning his behavior if he actually did use racist language, but there's something fishy with the way the FA went about this, imo.

What words does he know he's Turkish?:D I'm a sure there s a word for me and my people in Turkish but would Yobo even know it if he heard it? This is all very confusing.

Heh did you hear David Beckham signed with MLS?

I'll think out a response to the Beckham signing in the out-of-town thread, but to follow up on the FA situation, it is indeed very confusing. It reminds me of the Duke situation, in that no one can really say what happened with any authority, and the FA is basically pressing on with the case anyway. I mean, if Emre says he didn't say anything, Dermot Gallagher says he didn't hear Emre say anything offensive, yet he's hit with a ban because Everton were basically cajoled into substantiating their fans' complaints, then it'll just have devolved into a massive cluster********. Oh, yeah, and where's the followup for Martins allegedly being abused in the same game, hm? Everton's fans' word is better than Newcastle's fans'?
