Sad. What the hell is wrong with the federation? Do they want this sport to take off in the US or not? Do they not realize that catering to the "core demographics" right now will only screw them in the long run? They need to be investing in their rabid supporters now, so that in the future we can help them attract the "core demographics" as well.

I was going to get tickets in the Sam's Army section, but when I realized they didn't have their tickets I went ahead and picked up some midfield seats.

    Price Level 4: $80.75
    Lower Level
    Section: 108
    Row: 4

Why is purchasing tickets to U.S. games so aggravating? The tickets didn't even go on sale at 10 AM MST like they were supposed to for this game!

Could someone in the know share what the difference between "field" seat and Lower level are...(besides what appears to be obvious)... I'm wondering if there are actuall seating on the pitch level. At least that's what comes up when I enter for the real pricy seats. Just wondering...thanks

Exaclty. We are the core fans who make our plans for the matches way in advance , but our plans are halted by their lack of given information to the public . Its just stupid.

I'm waiting another day , then ill get some behind the goal , as close to where it might be as possible.

I understand the sentiment that we, as staunch supporters of US Soccer, are not fully appreciated. I consider us to be the like of season ticket holders, similar to the fans of other American professional sports. Although, we lack the benefits of: a set home field, ticket reservation and availability and perhaps a certain amount of indulgence from the organization. Although, I can hardly imagine as many fans of other sport traveling the world to support their team.
I am by no means, suggesting that we should expect some unreasonable concession of the stadium owners or US Soccer. I, like you, simply want the opportunity to be with my compatriots and experience the event with them.
Many of you and more before you are to thank for the level of attention and attendance that the national teams enjoy today. All of you choose to rally behind the team contrary to the mainstream in this country that was almost hostile to the game. I do feel that you should be afforded the right to your own section in homage paid to your loyal support.

I strongly disagree with aavius, since 80% of ticket sales are for all the Jonny come lates. The soccer clubs and advertisers know this so why give soccer fans first run at tickets since they make more money off the rest of us.

For those of you that are from out of town, I want to inform you that in Arizona, ticket scalping is NOT illegal. there is a good chance that scalpers have picked up a LOT of sections here for this match and they know who's more willing to pay them up to 4X face value (Mexico). When the Bears came to town for MNF earlier this year, tix for that game were selling for 6X face value, a lot of Cardinals STH's sold their Bear tix to finance their season next year. I love living here, but I have to admit that I've never understood why scalping is legal, it is not uncommon to run into hundreds of scalpers freely doing their business on gameday right in front of the stadium! Anyway I hope to see a LOT of us there, we will be outnumbered but sometimes it's about Quality, not quantity!

Maybe the USSF and/or the big sponsors don't want a Supporters' Section at games. Do you have to be hit with a sledgehammer to figure this out? The market Nike, MasterCard and other big sponsors is targeting is women and children. Loud, standing fans, most of them male, are the last thing they want to see at games. We aren't asking for discounts and we have always been happy with seats behind the goal, the least desirable seats in a soccer stadium.
Still, from a security perspective, it makes sense to herd the most passionate fans together and segregate them, like they do in Azteca, Ajax Stadium and every other big soccer stadium outside the US. Can you imagine what it would have been like in Azteca in 2001 if they Mexican FA has not segregated us????? Do they really want to increase the chances of a bad incident? Nothing will scare off the soccer moms more than a riot at a US-Mexico game. And we have had some very close calls.
Before the Mexico game in 2005, the USSF sent out US Supporters' Section tickets with a little flyer telling us to avoid profanity. It said compliance with this would allow the USSF to offer Supporters' section tickets in the future. In the second half, Osvaldo was rattled with the ASS**** ASS**** chants. We might have sealed our death warrant with that. But we won.
It is probably hopeles but the only out I see is to get the supporters' groups in MLS, while there still is an MLS, Sam's Army and others to avoid all profanity. Be as loud as you want to be but do not use profanity. I think we underestimate how much some of the soccer mom hate this. They have the power. We do not.

You are essentially insinuating that USSF hates Sam's Army. Thats crap. I think the problem is that Sam's Army dropped the ball here. No one from Sam's Army has been on this thread with any information. Unfortunately, SA has been disjointed for sometime and needs someone to step up and take control. If you want a section so bad, at least call USSF and provide details that they don't want a supporter's section rather than coming up with crazy theories about young children.

How long a drive from Los Angeles? I guessing about 5 hours? Trying to get a group to drive over.

I never said that. I suspect the hostility to loud, organized fan groups comes from the sponsors, rather than the USSF. But I don't know for sure because the USSF does not tell you a lot. I imagine if globalist sponsors like Nike say we want it this way they get it that way.
Sam's Army essentially stopped operating in 2002, but the concept of a traveling fan base, standing behind the goal, cheering throughout the game, persisted. The USSF offered a Sam's Army Section for the Denmark game
    http://images.ussoccer.com/Documents/cms/ussf/SamsArmyHDC.pdf
but not the Mexico game. Even worse, the USSF did not offer a presale to the people who had registered at USSoccerfan, very unusual because they almost always do this for national team games and USWNT games too.

Can you please provide the source that the USSF will not offer a Sam's Army section for the Mexico game? Last time I checked (one minute ago)... sams-army.com says..."Ticket info to be posted very soon...check back here."

Maybe I am just not as impatient as the rest of you.

Yeah, it's about a 5 hour drive. Pretty easy once you get out of the LA sprawl.

I live in N. Phoenix and am about 20-30 mins from the stadium depending on traffic. I'm hoping to get a few guys from work to go. You can get a room in Avondale or Goodyear, but there's really nothing to do out there. If you have a little (not a lot) money and are renting a car and are staying for more than the night of the game I recommend you get a room in Tempe, Scottsdale, Central or North Phoenix. There's much more to do in those areas and the stadium is easily accessible from the freeway (Loop 101) and from surface streets (Glendale Ave) off of I-17 or the 51. It's really easy to get around Phoenix. It's one big grid that is interrupted here and there by a mountain.

Again, if anybody wants any info regarding the Phoenix area feel free to PM me.

Even if the USSF offers it now, will it make much of a difference? Many potential residents of the section have already bought tickets. The same thing happeened with the England game. That is why the Supporters' Section for the England game was 1/5 the size of the section for the Poland game. The announcement was made quite late and people had already bought tickets. The same thing happened with the 2003 and 1999 WWC.
This game will sell out soon. I just checked and the endline seat quote was for row 20, section 117. Yesterday at this time it was row 16, section 117. The day before row 10. They are selling like hotcakes in spite of the high prices. For Sam's Army, there is no room in the inn.

I'll be making the trip from Los Angeles as well, staying at the Phx hostel.

Is anyone going to be tailgating for the game? It would be cool to have a pre-game tailgate w/ all of Sam's Army. Anyone familiar with the stadium have an idea where we could set this up?

I'm coming from Boise. I have a question, maybe some useless pointers.

The folks going down from Boise for the Fiesta Bowl aren't getting enough advice on how to actually get to Glendale without renting a car. There's a bus line (# 70) that gets to the stadium, but it's done at 7 pm. I'm not only asking if there will be extra buses for this game, but hundreds of Fiesta Bowl goers want to know about New Year's Day.

No hotels even reasonably close, by all testimony, correct? I do know that conventional wisdom there is to get a room in Tempe or Scottsdale; that's where the nightlife is. Downtown Phoenix isn't all that much, apparently. I know I'll be in Tempe the next night anyway.

Anyone driving? From LA, it's easy; most Californians would probably head through LA or San Bernardino, virtually never a problem except the occasional backup. If you route through Albuquerque, don't be surprised at snow in Northern Arizona.

Ill be coming out from San Bernardino. Its a pretty straight drive , five hours.

It looks like I will be buying my tickets for behind the goal , but I think when the Sams Army section is announced , we should all make an effort of getting in it, it makes the game so much better being together standing and singing. Especially against Mexico.

If I Didn't live in the area I would stay in Peoria.
    W. Bell road and Loop 101 is the main shopping and dining spot for the NW Valley. (North side of the street is Glendale. South side Peoria.)
Their are plenty of hotels. ( Google maps type in 85382 and look for hotels.)
No dance clubs per sea but their are plenty of sports bars etc.
Its a 7-10min drive to the stadium. If you stay downtown or Tempe, etc. your going to have to take I-10 during rush hour and can expect to have a 45-60min. drive. leaving your hotel at 5 to get to the stadium by 6.
