Okay, since this subforum is still getting some traffic (god only knows why), it's once again time for Name That Team! The winner of our last lame-o poll was "Other" with 29 votes! For those scoring at home, "Cattle" came in 2nd place with 22 votes!... and at 3rd place was "Lone Star" after receiving 20 votes from complete idiots... Naming an Oklahoma team "Lone Star" is about as stupid as suggesting the Wizards re-brand in Johnson County as "KFC" (aka... Kansas Football Club). Enjoy.
Going with the Roughnecks for Tulsa no other name would work you have to go with it. For OKC, Slickers funny but it fits. The Oklahoma City Slickers FC and BTW who decided in the last poll to include Lone Star? All that did was fire up my burnt orange breatheren. If this were the San Antonio forum I would understand but that no longer exists thanks to their soccer hating mayor HARDberger. After he was elected mayor in May 2005 his first order of business was to run off the MLS and tear down anything former mayor Ed Garza put together before he left office. You see how his NFL/MLB plan has worked out so far. He knows how to reel 'em in and run 'em off just ask the Saints and the Marlins and Don Garber.

Of course it's going to be in the lead... just about everyone in the Tulsa Metro-Area is united behind Tulsa - Roughnecks... it's the others who are deciding between names... You might also want to notice, 3 of the top vote getting names from the previous selection were removed from this one... Cattle, Lone Star, and Roughriders... and Tulsa Roughnecks was added... I can understand why Lone Star and Roughriders were tossed aside, being alreayd used elsewhere... Lone Star a Texas thing, and the Long Island Roughriders already having a significant enough following... Oklahoma FC/SC seems to be getting the same amount of votes... So it's only a matter of time before the others chose 'other' and 'other' goes into the lead again, with Roughnecks in second... If you wanted to do a real poll... you would take the Roughnecks out of it, because if the team were in Tulsa it would be Roughnecks... and make a poll for if the team were in OKC what should the name be... making clear note that Rougnecks would be the name if it were in Tulsa... and don't forget to add the OKC Okie-Dokes...

LOL. I like the so called 'traditional' sports team names. But in this case 'Roughnecks' appeals to me because of the history behind the name. Granted if the team had drawn crap, never won anything, and bombed out early on, I don't think I would feel the same way.
