I can't find the link anymore, but I read an espndeportes article (from Record, maybe Thur/Fri?) that said SUM was considering inviting 10 teams to the Interliga. Chivas would then have enough points to qualify.

    Re: Chivas International Tourneys

Sounds like a good idea but this can backfire and affect the team! Next year the MNT will compete in Gold Cup and Copa America and Hugo allready stated that Chivas will be the beas of the MNT!

Chivas apart from MFL will be competing in TFC Champions Cup and Copa Sudamericana, unless they skip the sudamericana and just stick with TFC Champions cup, which CONCACAF will demand that Chiva play with their starters.

Question: How do they decide which teams play in the interliga? I know they use a point system, but dont know the specifics. Can aybody elucidate?

It's a little weird in that they count the points from the two tournaments in the "school year" (2005-2006). So for instance, this time they count the points from Apertura 2005 and Clausura 2006. With the exception that if you won one of the two tournaments in the "calendar year" (2006), you don't go to the interliga (in this case Pachuca and Chivas, though Chivas didn't have the points anyway). Also, I think Toluca doesn't participate in this interliga because they already qualified to the libertadores by beating America (game between two champs of the previous year's (2005) tournaments).

As you can see, it gets a little complicated. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong. I don't always remember the details.
