Congrats to Urawa............ but the bad news. Hans Oft will resign at the end of the current season, apparently because of disagreements with the front office.

Also, Emerson is considering applying for Japanese citizenship but can he play for Japan NT? He played in the 1999 U-20 South American championships so he should be cap tied... http://www.conmebol.com/scripts/runisa.dll?s7:GL1::71185+1052+1999+101BRA

yes, Urawa had many silver medals at the time of an amateur league. (1970,1971,1974,1975,1976,1977)
and, they also has become league champion 4 times. (1969,1973,1978,1982)
In addition to this, they have also taken the Emperor's Cup 4 times.
They were strong a long time ago.
However, after J.League is established, they had not become champion once.

Congratulations, Urawa! I'm glad that most popular club in Japan take a title .

Incidentally, the three major titles of Japan are J.League, Yamazaki Nabisco cup, and the Emperor's cup.

I don't get it. Urawa vs Kashima would be a devasting rivalry, is it not? I would even expect the police to seperate the Urawa fans from the Kashima fans.

Kashima is not even a shi (city)..and yet they have more support than Urawa in Tokyo? Or..wait..who's rooting for who in there? The entire crowd looks like theyre rooting for Kashima. Weird.

It looks like 70% of the stadium is Urawa (the red, white and black stripes) and only the near side stand behind the goal is Kashima.
Then again, the teams have similar colors so it's hard to tell.

According to the announcers, it was about three Reds fans to every two Antlers fans. Based on the sound of the cheering, it might even have been as much as two Reds for every one Antlers.

However, regarding the question about Kashima support in Tokyo -- for the first seven years of the JLeague there was no team in Tokyo. At first a lot of Tokyo people supported Verdy, and a few supported Marinos. But as time went on, the majority of Tokyo football fans gravitated to either Kashima or Shimizu S-Pulse (dont ask me why).

Since FC Tokyo and Tokyo Verdy came on the scene, they have captured a lot of the fan base from western Tokyo (and particularly the ex-Verdy Kawasaki and ex-S-Pulse fans). But the Tokyo area (especially northern & eastern suburbs) is still a strong base of support for the Antlers. Matches played at National Stadium always attract a lot of Kashima fans.

Albirex Niigata, who can clinch promotion to J1 as early as this Saturday against Yokohama FC, are already planning a victory parade. Niigata is averaging 29,172 fans a game this season, more than any J-League club, J1 or J2.

Many Kashima fans are in Tokyo. But it can go in 1 hour from Saitama to Tokyo.
Therefore, the stadium is occupied by the Urawa fan.

HANS OOFT manager of Urawa resigned.
Because he knew that Urawa was looking for the next manager.
His norm was more than 5th in the first stage. But URAWA was 6th.
The owner of Urawa was not satisfied.
They has already selected five manager candidates, such as BUCHWALD.
However, the fan is supporting OOFT!

What a shame. The Reds are only 1 point behind leaders Verdy (!) and Marinos in the 2nd stage. They could win the league and Ooft will still end up leaving.

EMERSON was deprived of the medal after the game.
While carrying out the winning run, he was surrounded by URAWA fan who has advanced into the ground and was deprived of the medal.
If it returns to him the medal, he has said that he gives a photograph and a sign.
the fan who took the medal --- please return!

There is Round 42 of J2 today. NIIGATA may go to J1 today.
Now, the teams that have the possibility of J1 promotion are 3 teams.
    NIIGATA(pts 82), HIROSHIMA(80), KAWASAKI(78)
2 teams of higher ranks can be promoted to J1.

If NIIGATA wins and HIROAHIMA or KAWASAKI loses, J1 promotion of Niigata is decided.
Or if NIIGATA wins and HIROAHIMA and KAWASAKI draw, it's OK.

    today games (14:00 kick off)
    NIIGATA vs YOKOHAMA.FC
    KAWASAKI vs FUKUOKA
    YAMAGATA vs HIROSHIMA

    GO NIIGATA !!

    J2 Round 42

J2 NIGATA's promotion was carried over to next game. It is because all 3 teams won.
    NIIGATA 4-2 YOKOHAMA.FC
    KAWASAKI 5-2 FUKUOKA
    YAMAGATA 1-2 HIROSHIMA
    NIIGATA(pts 85), HIROSHIMA(83), KAWASAKI(81)

The remaining games of J2 are two.
If Niigata wins the next game, the promotion is decided.
There is direct confrontation of KAWASAKI and HIROSHIMA in the last game. It will be a very severe game.
    NIIGATA-----FUKUOKA(November 15), OMIYA(November 23)
    HIROSHIMA-----TOSU(November 15), KAWASAKI(November 23)
    KASAWAKI-----SHONAN(November 15), HIROSHIMA(November 23)

    J1 2nd stage Round 12

TOKYO.V and YOKOHAMA lost. URAWA and NAGOYA won.
Thereby, championship fighting became very interesting.
There are 8 teams in a four-point difference.
    URAWA --- 22pts
    F.TOKYO --- 20
    TOKYO.V --- 20
    YOKOHAMA --- 20
    IWATA --- 20
    ICHIHARA --- 19
    NAGOYA --- 18
    KASHIMA --- 18
The remaining games of J1 2nd stage are three games.

Although I am YOKOHAMA fan, I am supporting URAWA now.
Because, if YOKOHAMA wins also a second stage, 2003 SUNTORY Championship is lost.
It is loss for YOKOHAMA, and also for J-league.

Yeah, I hope Urawa and Niigata both win. Both have passionate fans (though Urawa fans maybe a little too passionate).

I want YOKOHAMA to always win, of course. However, it is not interesting that a championship is lost.
Fan wants to see many game!

    J1 18teams ?

The number of teams of J1 may increase to 18 teams in 2005.
    The Suzuki chairman talked.
There is a team which may be promoted to J2 in 2005.
Now, J2 is performing the stage 4 times by 12 teams. There are 44 games.
If J2 increases to 13 teams, the number of games increases too much.
Therefore, when J.League becomes 29 teams, J1 is increased to 18 teams and J2 is reduced to 11 teams.

I approve of 18 teams of J1. If the number of games increases, the fan can see many games and the income of a club will increase.

18 teams isn't too bad. The quality of the bottom of the J1 and the top of the J2 is about even. I think 20 should be the absoulte max for any top league.
