Well, we have a whole bunch of yanks who are supposed to be in action today in Denmark. Esbjerg and Tally Hall have a home match at the Blue Water Arena against FC Nordsjælland (former club of Heath Pearce). Tally Hall is a backup keeper on the team and has yet to make an appearance this season. He was however called into the USMNT friendly against the Swiss, so he is definitely on Bradley's radar. This game should be getting underway shortly AaB and captain Danny Califf have an away match at Randers FC today. AaB is in third place right now in the Superligan, only 2 points back of leaders FC Copenhagen. Plus they have a game in hand. If they have title aspirations, this is one they need to take. They were dumped out of the Danish Cup in the midweek, so hopefully they can rebound with this one. Aarhus and Jeremiah White lost yesterday to FC Copenhagen and Brede Hangeland 2-0. Both White and Hangeland went the full 90 minutes. The goals were scored by our CONCACAF friend Atiba Hutchinson of Canada and the Czech Libor Sionko (formerly of Rangers). The match between Viborg and Odense originally scheduled for today, is now being played on Monday. Robbie Russell hasn't figured for Viborg as of late. As far as I can tell he hasn't played since August.
Well, the results are in. It hasn't been a good weekend for our yanks in Denmark. Tally Hall didn't play for Esbjerg, who last 2-1 to FC Nordsjælland. Esbjerg went up in the 4th minute with a goal from Jersper Bech, but goals from former Rangers player Bajram Fetai and Martin Bernburg sealed it for FC Nordsjælland. Danny Califf and AaB lost to Randers 1-0 on the road. Randers got the goal at the end of the first half from Bedi Buval, who used to be at Bolton.
The Viborg-Odense match has just kicked off in Denmark. I'm trying to find out if Robbie Russell is in Viborg's lineup.
Robbie Russell didn't appear for Viborg today in their 2-0 loss to Odense. After this week's games, here's the Danish table. All teams have played 15 games. 1 FC Copenhagen 29 2 FC Midtjylland 28 3 AaB 27 4 Odense BK 26 5 AC Horsens 26 6 Randers FC 24 7 FC Nordsjaelland 23 8 Brondby 17 9 Esbjerg 16 10 AGF Aarhus 11 11 Viborg 10 12 Lyngby 9 Things are looking a bit ugly for our yank teams, but its early still. Esbjerg, Aarhus, and Viborg are all in the bottom half. Captain Califf and AaB are within strinking distance of the top, however.
