There are several articles about Benfica's game tommorow with quotes from the coach about Adu. He will be included in the squad, but will not start, which should come as no surprise. Also, Nuno Gomes, who has been recovering from an injury, will be part of the squad.

uefa.com should have a match tracker for the game, and I'm sure non-macintosh people can tell you all about your sopcast options.

    Original Article in Portuguese

"He is a player with great potential and with a bright future. He has enormous potential, but he has only been training with us for a little bit and still has to become integrated with the squad." -Fernando Santos

Cool. Looks like Rangers-Red Star (hopefully) might be on TVAnts which means I might be able to watch both simultaneously.

    Excerpt from AP's story today:

Adu could debut for Benfica as a substitute in Tuesday's Champions League Qualifier
LISBON, Portugal (AP) - American teenage star Freddy Adu could make his debut for Benfica as a substitute in Tuesday's Champions League qualifier against FC Copenhagen.
Adu, who had been one of the highest-profile players in Major League Soccer, was among the 19 players named to the squad Monday for the first leg at the Stadium of Light.
Benfica coach Fernando Santos said the 18-year-old attacking midfielder will not start the match and will be on the bench.
"Adu has only had seven days of training, but he has enormous potential and he is available," Santos said. "But we have to be careful with him under these conditions."

Unfortunately, only 18 are named to the gameday squad.

Does that mean the match starts at 15:15 or 3:15PM EST? If so, i am out of luck, like most ppl still stuck at work. Is there a chance of a delay web cast?

I'm pretty sure it is 3:15PM EST although my GMT conversion skills aren't the best. Not sure about the delay web cast.

I just got Direct TV- would this game be on one of the Portugese channels? And if so, does anybody know if I would need to upgrade to get those international channels?

Pfff. I'll have you know that we are a self-imploding community. We don't need no stinking goals.

Incidentally, is your avatar supposed to be a black square?

Blow for Benfica--looks like they're going to offload Manuel Fernandes to Everton.

Add MSI into the mix, but doesn't seem to be too much problem with the transfer unless MSI doesn't want to sell their 50% to Benfica to sell the whole hog to Everton.

At the most, Fernandes won't play tomorrow as not to cap-tie him.

Yeah, 3:15 EST. It's doubtful, but you should be able to find it for download.

It's also a problem that one of his best friends on the team is leaving.

but do they really directly compete for playing time? I thought Fernandes plays behind someone like Freddy or Di Maria..
