So Brazil is in town. They headed to practice about an hour before the Germany/Argentina game. Their team bus is monitored by 180 million Brazilian hearts... and two German cops. I watched the game at Yours Sports Bar, and American sports pub - with Newcastle Beer! - with some friends. After the game, I headed to the town square to catch up on the revelry:
Everyone should have one of these I wonder why I'm coughing while I type this? This is the ugly side of photography. This and the lead image are quite sensational, but in a couple thousand people in the square, this was pretty much the only negative site I saw - yet the images could be portrayed as being representative.... They're not. Well, it's a party in Germany tonight. I'm off to enjoy it!
IS ALSO A VERY BAD TASTE TO POST PICS of flag burning, do something about it there is other ways to celebrate a game of futbol..... is not a political rally or or a social facist run to the top of command! nasty...andy I had hope your abilities to capture images were well used! that is sick.
So I should hide the truth? I agree that flag burning is bad. But I don't agree that photos of flag burning are bad. I don't "make" the news. I merely report it.
And you are a moderator? You claim the right to decide what people do or do not see on certain areas of this site? I find that frightening. Censorship is *not* the way to stop distateful things from happening. Flag burning is wrong. Censorship is worse. How you blame Andy for the fact he shared a picture of misguided German youth is beyond me. Andy did not burn the flag, nor, as is obvious from his post, does he condone the event. But it happened, and he acted as any good photojournalist would. Buy a clue. If you're mad, be mad at the right people.
thats really nasty!!!!! flag is very important for a country and with this picture all germans are really ashamed of themselves!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not asking to censor his bad taste on what he calls 'reporting' I am sure HE HAS 20 MORE (AT LEAST) pics that are of general interest to futbol fans....why that nasty incident? wrong my friend! wrong
I have sent a complaint about this. Burning your country's flag may symbolize free speech, but burning somebody else's flag is a classless act. And so is showing it here. I'm a big fan of Bigsoccer, but I cannot tolerate this. I respectfully request that these pictures be removed. Thank you.
Look at those (Upper class school)Kids. Hope it doesnt end up like those Mohammed Comics in Danish Newspapers. Germany : Italy 2:1 or no more Pizza
well, this is a private site, so it's not strictly speaking a matter of censorship, but I hope those pics of idiots burning a flag are not removed
As always the man who gave the Kids matchboxes is not on the picture. Ok Noone can blame anyone making a pic of that and putting on the net. The only people who can be blamed for it are those kids and the men/women (with the matchboxes)who didnt teach them to respect others and symbols of their faith, nation or whatever.
That's a shameless act and an insult to our country. I find it in extremely bad taste to show it, although as a result of the pics, I've lost all respect for Germans. Something should be done about this. There is no reason for this unsportsmanlike act to be thrown here. One thing is to joke about someone's country and game, but quite another is to blatantly insult the simbol of a nation which so many people hold in high regard. Not cool.
No, it is not a matter of censorship. It is a matter of showing respect to those of us who support this site. Please remove the pictures.
This is 2006 buddy ... not the mid 1930s. Or where do you draw the line? And the title of the thread is as distasteful as the pics. The poster just gets himself to the same level as the idiots burning another nations flag over a football match. What a moron. .
I think the thread title "Burn Baby Burn" proves there was malicious intent on the part of the poster. But hey, if his images are going to be allowed, then anything goes. Perhaps pictures of German acts of cruelty they were notorious for in the 30's would be deemed appropriate? There should be a degree of respect given, or none should be expected from anyone.
Don't be silly. You can't loose your respect for an entire country just because a few stupid kids did something so horribly disrespectful. But I concur- posting these pictures may be "free speech" but it was in horrible taste to do so.
Again, if those pics arent removed, I should take it as a sign that it's okay to show famous pictures of Germans killing people, or perhaps a pic of a burning american flag? Maybe an American beheading? Tell me where the limits are so I can be aware, because you guys don't seem to have any currently.
just for that..... Italia is gonna kick there ass! FVkkk Deuchland If this guy that put up these pictures claims to be just reporting... Why did he give this thread this tittle?
i lost respect when they killed 6 million jews. look some stupid kids are being disrespectful and that's cool, but is a soccer site and theres no need to show what germans do when they beat a team at a sport. ok im getting a little too personal, but theres no need to show that or the tittle on a SOCCER FORUM. ps: i think the german presdent should apologize and reward us with a reentry to the world cup cause of the stupidness of his people.
You may have a point, but I think we shouldn't step down to their level. I'm as pissed off as you are, but lets show some more class that others are showing. We are the ones representing Argentina in these boards.
