The more inputs = the better this ranking will be. Matches this weekend: Columbus Crew - Chicago Fire DC United - Houston Dynamo Kansas City Wizards - NE Revolution Colorado Rapids - FC Dallas Real Salt Lake - New York Red Bull Chivas - Galaxy Thank you all who have participated. Really appreciate it.
Chicago 2.5 Columbus 2.0 Actually a pretty dreadful game. Chicago looked better when I saw them in person in Dallas. Not sure if that means they were off today or Columbus' defense is better than Dallas. Naw, it means Columbus doesn't attack enough to have to get back into defensive posture as they are always in it. The Crew need time to gell and might be ok at the end of the year but they aren't that easy on the eyes right now.
Columbus - 2 Chicago - 3 Neither team looked stellar, but at least Chicago made more of an effort (at least for the first 60 minutes or so). DC - 4 Houston - 3 (Based on the second half video and 1st half audio) DC looked dangerous on the attack and was pushing heavily for a third goal. They had numerous chances on Onstad and were a threat on every counterattack. Houston really missed DeRosario, but Ching and Moreno did their best. Mullan was great going down the flanks, but Houston's crosses were not very threatening.
NY 2 RSL 2 Pretty dull for both teams. They both lacked consistency and had very few chances at goal. FCD 3 Colorado 2.5 FCD counterattacked pretty well, but chances on goal were random. FCD looked gassed by the second half, and their offense declined significantly. Colorado benefited from a disorganized FCD backline, but seemed scattered in their method of attack. Kirovski and Cooke tried to provide a spark, but the forwards couldn't connect on passes or crosses. I've got no rating for the KC-NE game, as I could only watch two games at a time and had already missed the first half of their game.
Columbus: 2.3 Chicago: 2.8 DC United: 4.1 Dynamo: 3.4 Chivas: 3.8 Galaxy: 3.9 will give rating to other games if I see them on mlsnet archive.
Since you're a DC fan and the rating of 5/5 for attacking soccer is kinda biased (even though DC did play a lot of attacking football). Your score of 5 will be replace by the average of your score + the next two rating for DC United of 4 and 4.5: (5 + 4 + 4.5)/3 = 4.5 FIXED.
Chicago 2.5 Crew 2.0 If they were still playing I don't think the Crew would have scored from the run of play. Galaxy 4.0 Chivas 4.0 Very exciting stuff. I wish every MLS game had this level of commitment.
Columbus - 2 Chicago - 2.5 DC United - 4 Houston - 3.5 Kansas City - 3 New England - 2.5 LA Galaxy - 4 Chivas USA - 4
While I don't appreciate having my number changed simply because I'm a DC fan, if I had known I could give non-whole numbers, I would have actually given a 4.5. So, it's all good.
I didn't fix your rating because you're a DC fan. I fixed it because you are biased for DC United as a DC fan. If you gave a 4.7 or 4.8, I would have left it alone. But 5 out of 5 is quite a 'stretch'.
Need more rating (especially for Dallas-Colorado and NE-KC which only has one rating thus far) Ranking for Week 3 thus far: Season Average (wk 1 ---wk2---wk3) Code: 3.87 Houston 4.25 4.08 3.28 3.87 DC 3.8 3.58 4.22 3.55 Chivas 4 3.04 3.6 3.52 Dallas 3.88 3.67 3 3.51 Kansas City 3.9 3.62 3 3.13 Colorado 3.38 3.5 2.5 3.10 Columbus 3.2 4 2.11 2.88 New England 2.25 3.9 2.5 2.86 New York 3.35 3.4 1.83 2.85 Chicago 3.3 2.5 2.76 2.83 LA 2 2.75 3.73 1.82 Salt Lake City 1.78 1.5 2.17
Columbus 1.5 (wretched) Chicago 2.0 (also wretched but less stinky) DCU-Houston - did not watch, couldn't even follow the highlights. KC 2.0 NE 1.0 (Nicol continues to suck life out of soccer and Gansler goes into a shell with a one goal lead) Colorado 3.5 Dallas 3.0 - a decent half by Clint Mathis but two de facto own goals by Clarence Goodson was their only pay-off. Dallas just got tired half way through the second half. RSL-NY - couldn't watch the game due to the field having the American football markings. LAG 4.0 Chivas 3.5 -- an exciting game, especialy the ending, but the Galz picked their play late in the game when Herc pushed LD back into the midfield. Chivas need to find someone with pace upfront because Razov, Paco and JP ain't got it. That was very obvious vs. DCU and reinforced vs. the Galz (Marshall/Roberts and Ugo).
How is it clear that I would give DC too high of a rating because of my bias though? If they played mediocre, I might give them too low of a rating because I was overly critical. In this case, yes a 5 does make it impossible that I could have underrated DC...but I'm referring more to the general principle.
Columbus Crew 2--Chicago Fire 2.5 DC United 2.5--Houston Dynamo 1 Kansas City Wizards 1--NE Revolution 1 Real Salt Lake 2.5--New York Red Bull 0.5 Chivas 4--Galaxy 1.5 Disappointed by lack of attack in DC-San Jose match--usually a cracker--especially by the Orange Dynamints, who had very little energy, and seemed skittish after blowing it against KC. Red Bulls are deadly dull. Chivas deserved a win for their effort. "One-nil to the Wiz--and the Arrowhead Stadium crowd goes wild."
Columbus 1.5 - never got much going, especially after the first 15-20min Chicago 2.5 - the attack was more organized, but like the Crew they had trouble getting into the attacking third. LA Gals- 3.25 - Landon seemed less like an CAM than a player that was sometimes totally lost, and 'pretending' that Cobi was a forward seemed a little unbalanced. But overall, a little bit above average. Chivas- 3.5 - They really seemed to be pushing the attack more than the Galaxy, but just ran out of steam and moves by the end of the game.
