The latest in bad news from Steve Goff: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/11/AR2006041101386.html But wait, there's more So we can forget about moving players because we've got depth. Here's hoping that both players return healthy.
Re: Dropping like flies I knew Stokes got injured almost at the last kick of the game..there was a giveaway that led to the UMD corner..and it looked like Stokes just quit..
Quaranta hurt again - Goff/Post The other hamstring this time... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/11/AR2006041101386.html
Re: Quaranta hurt again - Goff/Post Stokes is injured again? For crying out loud ... gotta be kidding me. Just when I thought he might be coming back.
will the saturday match be streamed on MLSnet.com? I know matches on ESPN2 and ABC are not streamed online but what about the ones on HDnet?
Tino I wish was healthy becasue he has some skills that no one else on the team has. Stokes while I feel sorry for the kid has to be the 7th defender on the depth chart so I don't think it hurts us much. Any word on Namoff??
Q1 and Namoff injured, Stokes sat out of yesterday's practice. Rimando said that he would be "back in two weeks." D'ko was working out on the side - groin strain. McTavish is wearing a Phantom of the Opera mask.
I guess that early season strains and pulls aren't that uncommon in the league. Diceson, does United tend to have a disproportionate number of walking wounded early in the season? It seems that ham and groin strains are the plague of United. Fitness staff, we don't need no stinkin' fitness staff.
I've got to go back to the "Notes and Quotes" from the early years, but I'm willing to bet that under Rongen and Hudson there weren't as many early injuries. In 2004, PN came in and changed the team culture. It is likely that players put in the extra effort to impress the coaching staff as much to get ready for the regular season. In 2005, with CONCACAF Club Champions' League, by his own admission Nowak pushed hard early in the year in an effort to get ready. In Bradenton this season things were so strange because they were "normal" compared to the other teams training there at the time. However, to defend PN & Co., I don't remember any of those teams being as physically fit, nor have the game, or year long, stamina of Nowak's teams.
I wouldn't worry about it just yet. For the first time in a while I am not as spooked about injuries considering our depth. Not saying I don't care about those guys getting hurt but we do have other options, and some of them really need to step it up and now they have that chance to do so. Out of all those injured, Namoff is what worries me the most.
With Quaranta injured, I assume he won't even be considered as an alternate for the WC at this point. Three weeks from now, you are in the first week in May, and from there only a month out from the WC.
...but he also thinks that he'd be hard to trade. At his salary and with his injury history, I can understand why.
What sucks is that we go into every season (I do anyways) saying THIS is Tino's bust out year. I really feel bad for him, I hope he can get past this latest setback and really shine. He's got all the tools...
Exactly. Despite his immense undeniable skill set, no team is going to give up a lot of value for a player that makes over $100,000 a season and has had a litany of injury struggles throughout their career.
Would that DC would play like Ajax on a regular basis and that Tino had a history that included scoring at the World Cup. Aside from that, a fair comparison.
