Thanks Dema, it was fun while it lasted.

Dema and Rev leaving on the same day... coincidence or cheddar?

don't think of it as Dema leaving

think of it as MLS handing out their first lifetime red card suspension

That's big chunk of salary that had to be freed up.

Ill miss Dema's versatility. Even if he wasn't always the best on the wing (or in d-mid), the coaches knew that they'd get a hard, minimum-of-a-workmanlike performance out of Dema at any slot in the midfield. That's not all that common.

I assume most of that money goes towards the cap hit we take from Adu this year?

will miss his fire and determination and interaction with the fans....on the othr hand, wont miss his salary, the shots sailing over the bar, red cards, and inability to use his left foot.

Wow :( I loved the heart and fire with which he played, and he's personally a great guy. I know he was prone to doing some dumb things on the field, but I hope we can replace his emotional spark next year. He'll be missed.

Nah, ones already issued to Danny Pena and Hristo Stoichcov :)

Bye Dema, thanks for the effort you gave and all the black and red you bled.

My girlfriend will surely be upset, even though she knew it was coming...... I should leave work to go home and comfort her now......

It was nice knowing that he was a player that would give 100% every game but his production did not equal his salary. I was hoping they would sign him at a lower salary but his move to the Ukraine is not devestating. I wish him the best of luck with his new club. At least he wont be breaking any of DC United's bones since he is not in the league anymore.

I, too, will miss Dema. A great guy in person, if a little unclear on the concept of how to tip a belly dancer. He always left it on the field, and I know he loved United. I had hoped they'd be able to negotiate new terms...

All the best, Dema. Thanks for memories.

    Alll good luck to Dema!

Lots of good things could come of this for him. By being in country, it will make him far more visible to the Ukraine national team coaches and perhaps a good start with his club there, could win him an invite into a training camp with them. Who knows, we could see Dema on the field in Germany this summer at the World Cup.

Really? Is the Ukraine that desperate considering they did qualify top of their group. It wasn't the toughest group out of europe but it was respectable. I don't think he has a chance to even be considered. I suppose if he started and scored or assisted in every game up until April or so then maybe, but Dema's not going to do that.

Back to the Dema tribute, I have always liked watching him play since his days at Indiana. He brought a lot to the field and left it all there. He never tried to do more than what he was capable which is a tribute to his intelligence as a player. I will miss his swagger on the field.

Last time I talked to DeKo she seemed to have made peace with the fact that this was going to happen.

    Still...
