Did the Quakes MLS Cup titles even get this much ink? I am saddened reading these articles and I am not even an Earthquakes fan.

It's a close call. The Quakes got about a day of ink after the '03 Cup. Probably a little more now that it comes atop of the ongoing political scandals in San Jose.

Hmmm. I just now thought about this:

One advantage to moving SJ --> Houston is that it gives Houston an instant team sans the whole expansion growing pains...

... in order to maximize interest in a Dallas-Houston rivalry.

I guarantee that the Houston games will be a big draw in Frisco right away.

Pennies compared to the long-haul, but creating demand is h-uge in SSSs.

Or AEG now has teams/concert venues in the 4 largest markets in the US.

Huh. Let's see how they compare to LA/SJ games, in terms of tix sold and atmosphere.

But FYI, Houston is not just getting an established team. They're getting a young, exciting team that happens to one of the best, record-wise, in MLS history.

Does anyone know if Houston will be called the Earthquakes or something else? Team colors? Logo?

Something else. Nickname, colors, and logos stay behind. Same players, though.

The Houston Rock-a-fire Explosion. Their mascot will be a big singing bear and mouse.

I was gonna say Dallas, but Phili works too...

I think he meant regionally. - northeast/east coast, southwest/west coast, south gulf coast, and midwest/great plains
