what are your guys top 10? my ranking(could change anything is possible) 1-Teodoro "lolo" Fernandez(1935-1947) 2-Teofilo "nene" Cubillas(1968-1982) 3-Hugo "cholo" Sotil(1970-1979) 4-Hector "capitan de america" Chumpitaz(1965-1981) 5-Victor "conejo" Benitez(1957-1959) 6-Juan Joya(1957-1959) 7-Julio Melendez(1965-1977) 9-Julio Cesar "diamante" Uribe(1979-1989) 8-Valeriano "tanque de casma" Lopez(1947-1957) 10-Juan "loco" Seminario(1956-1959) some names that came close Jorge Alcalde, Alejandro Villanueva, Pitin Zegarra, Perico Leon, Gallardo, Loayza, Oblitas, Velasquez, Cueto, Challe, Mifflin, the Barbadillos, Diaz, Muñante, La Torre, Cachito, Navarro, Reynoso, del Solar, Palacios and Solano plus all the players from the 30's 40's and 50's i wasnt to familiar with got to be honest, it was harder than what i thought after the top 4, it was very hard to rank the players, gotta say i must have missed some of Lolo's generation(1936 olimpics and 1939 copa america win)...but i just dont know enough about them didnt consider Pizarro's generation or Farfan's Generation since they are still making their mark
Shouldn't we rank players that we've actually seen play? I can't rate Lolo since I've never seen him play or see any kind of footage, all I know of him is that his ugly mug is featured in some creamy toilet paper.
That'd makefor some pretty crappy lists. Wait, Garcia's would be pretty good, they say he's a geezer right? Here's mine: 1. Cholo Sotil 2. Lolo Fernandez 3. Hector Chumpitaz 4. Teofilo Cubillas 5. Perico Leon 6. Valeriano Lopez 7. Julio Cesar Uribe 8. Juan Joya 9. Juan Seminario 10. Roberto Palacios Honorable mention: Cueto, Baylon, Gallardo, Challe, Percy Rojas, Vides Mosquera, Toto Terry, Nicolas Fuentes, La Torre, La Fuente. Hey condor, was Juan Seminario the one that played in Boca and then became top goal scorer in Spain? I read that he was unbelievable but a little crazy. I read that he would pass up easy chances to score and try to do spectacular things. Don't know if it was him or Loayza though.
Interesting, the most recent one on that list is el Diamante Uribe Hopefully in the future years we will see some great stars coming from Peru, a nation that gave some true cracks and amazing football to the world. Could you post some information on Teodoro Fernandez? I don't feel like googling. Thanks.
i know that teo is 3rd all-time scorer with 15 goals in copa america...behind el argentino mendez and zizinho from, you guessed it, brasil...
my top 10: 1- ALBERTO "EL JET" GALLARDO 2- JULIO CESAR URIBE "LA PERLA" 3- "EL FLACO" QUESADA 4- ROBERTO PALACIOS "CHORRI" 5- JORGE "EL CAMELLO" SOTO 6- RAFAEL ASCA 7- FERNANDO MELLAN 8- ORLANDO LA TORRE 9-HECTOR CHUMPITAZ 10- OBLITAS

of course cubillas is not there, if he was so good then why he never took kaganza to a libertadores good representation...
i think it was Seminario...he played for Boca, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Fiorentina and Sporting Lisbon(i think, could be benfica) top scorer with Zaragoza Loayza was one i considered, played for both River and Boca, spent time with Barcelona and ended up an idol in colombia
Lolo scored on his debut at the age of 17 top scorer of the peruvian championship 7 times 1932, 33, 34, 38, 40, 42 y 45 retired at the age of 40, scoring 3 goals against Alianza Lima was the topscorer in the 1939 Copa America and is the 3rd all time goal scorer he is also the second highest goalscorer for Peru...24 goals in 32 matches http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teodoro_"Lolo"_Fernández

so this player doesn't belong in the list? http://www.arkivperu.com/per2esc1.rm http://www.arkivperu.com/per3esc1.rm

the time when we had 3 peruvians in fifa's all star team... how far from the reality today http://www.arkivperu.com/cubillas.htm Peruanos en Resto del Mundo.
1 Lolo 2. Cueto 3. Cubillas 4. Hoblitas 5. Sotil 6.Perico Leon 7.Chumpitaz 8.Quiroba 9.Uribe 10.Ramires
He's easily the best-known internationally and the one that accomplished most. He was also an awesome player But everyone from those days readily admits that he got an exaggerated amount of press, which boosted his stock and fame. "Ya vienen los goles de Cubillas!" became a popular saying because sports announcers repeated it so much, even if he didn't score. His relative failure at Porto and in the Swiss league are also strikes against him IMO. He was great, but not the very best.
Mine is similar 1. Palacios 2. Solano 3. Pizarro 4. Del Solar 5. Reynoso 6. Farfan 7. Mendoza 8. Soto 9. Jayo 10. Pereda That's right, Chino over Guerrero
Best players (that Ive actually seen play) 1. Nol Solano 2. Claudio Pizarro 3. Roberto Palacios 4. Juan Jayo 5. Jefferson Farfan 6. Paolo Guerrero 7. Chemo Del Solar 8. Sandro Baylon (R.I.P.) 9. Oscar Ibanez 10. Miguel Rebosio
my pops used to play with julio baylon in la victoria all the time before he headed out to alianza... he said there was some indoor shyte at a place called el parque por venir...does that sound right? my pops says he played with baylon, de la vega, rimaldo, babalu martinez, allan, que era un central... he even trained with alianza before he discovered alcohol and girls...then he just stopped playing... i guess that shyte runs in the borracho family veins.
