We're at $1.632 million in base salary - including the DEV squad. Either the Wizards are really being cheap this year or we're sitting on money in order to bring in reinforcements during the transfer window.

I'm a supporter of Wolff. I might even accept being called an apologist. That said, he might be the most over paid player in the league. That salary is amazing, not to mention the gap between Wolff and the rest of the team.

The guys on the DEV squad don't make peanuts! No Wonder Detter had to retire! The average person in the US makes roughly $29,000.

Most underpaid player in the league? Jack Jewsbury?

There is no way Wolff is worth half that salary. If he is making that much he needs to run down a lot more balls like Davie does. As for salary cap room, we haven't had a good foreign signing since 1999 maybe. How about another Mo or Molnar? The Wizards continually get screwed on foreign allocations. Our foreigners (Stephenson and Sealy) make $30,000, that probably means we knew they weren't going to be that great when we signed them. Jack is definitley the most underpaid player, that's ridiculous! Sometimes, I think Gansler looks at how much they pay people to decide if they should play. Jewsbury should be a lock as a starter.

Stephenson and Sealy aren't SI's they are TI's along with Shavar, our only SI is Diego "I'm freaking crap" Walsh.

I would guess Sealy's making that much because he was drafted out of college, he could be any nationality and probably be making the same amount.

Time for a "Give Jack a Raise!" chant.

It is more important to look at the KC area's average income. Cost of living is down, and so is the average salary. That being said Dev, squad still doesn't make squat.

When players sign with the league as in a adidias elite (p-40) it is the league that negotiates the contract. If the team picks a player out of the draft and has him sign a contract the GM and coach negotiate the contract to be paid by the league.

Jack is a good young player who is coming to fruition this year. He signed a contract before this season if my memory serves me correct. If he wanted a bigger contract then he should have done better last year. I know there are alot of Jack Jewsbury enthusiasts here, but until he puts together 2 good seasons back to back. I cannot see him being paid more.

I think we all know now why Wolff isn't actively seeking to play in Europe.

Article by Pete Grathoff in today's KC Star: "Wolff Has Wizards' Top Salary"

    http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/12135913.htm

Best quote: "While MLS doesn’t release player salaries, The Kansas City Star obtained the salaries of the Wizards players."

    Great investigative reporting, Pete!

Well, I've got a list of all players salaries, so it must not be too difficult to get.

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic. Pete's got a bit of a reputation around here.

He wasn't being sarcastic, he was trying to make it look like he has an exclusive.

He's banking on the fact that most people in KC don't know that the New York Times published the salaries last week.

I've always been curious as to how much the players get paid...especially in comparison to other sports where they get millions/year. Does anyone know what the guys who only get 11 grand a year do to make ends meet? Pizza deliver boy? Too bad about some of the boys.

They coach soccer camps, work with youth clubs. Occasionally, I think they get extra for certain public appearances as well.
