I have heard insider information that hints that Ned Grabavoy (Galaxy) might be included in a trade that would bring him home to the Fire. Ned is a local legend in the Chicago area stemming from his time with the Magic. Also, it is quite apparent that the genius that is Steve Sampson does not have much love for Mr. Grabavoy...and it would be great to give him a fresh start somewhere where he could be appreciated. Does anyone know if this story has any life to it, or if it was just a passing inside rumor?

This would be wonderful, but I wonder who we'd have to give up. We're currently stacked at forward, but I really wouldn't want to part with any of them.

    LA needs attacking players.

Stogey I am guessing you are a Galaxy fan. That would mean you are giving up Grabavoy obviously...the question I have is what you would want on the Fire roster that would add value to ure squad. Perhaps a back (C.J. Brown or Caballero) or a player such as Will John?

My guess would be that LA is trading for an allocation (or part of one). Steve Sampson seems to think he's God's gift to CONCACAF scouting (must be his tenure as Costa Rica's NATs coach). Expect another foreign import.

I can't wait to see the Galaxy boards on this one.

This is just stupid enough that Sampson will probably do it.

I'm a Fire fan, but I assume LA needs attackers cause they hardly ever score. I believe they're fairly deep on defenders, but their defenders seem to enjoy scoring on their own keeper.

I'd definately do CJ for Ned.

Beautifulgame, I'm gonna come find you and ******** on your lawn for bringing this news to my attention. It's called killing the messenger.

********. What's with Grabavoy? He does nothing but SHINE as a rookie, then Sampson benches him. ********. Is he really difficult? He was one of my favorite players last season! He kicked ass.

Great. We're probably gonna get stuck with Naldo's ********ing brother.

I hope this isn't true... if it is, its remarkable... My guess is SS2 will bring in Galdo, a striker from Argentina who played with a 3rd division team from the Netherlands once.

Would be a typical Galaxy move. We couldn't use Ching or Mullan either...

Would I be wrong in thinking this trade would involve LA getting a foward from Chicago?

They have Jaqua, Rolfe, Herron, Reiter.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Fire let Herron go to LA.

I can't claim to know the players on the Fire's roster but LA could seriously use a true striker. (One the preferably knows how to score goals on a consistant basis). Since it's been stated that the Fire are stocked with forwards, they can send a couple our way.

(Although I would really hate giving up Grabavoy, perhaps LAG can send Memo & Naldo instead.) ;)

Sounds logical, with Sampson's CR connection.

God I hope there is some truth to this insider info. Ned has a lot of potential and it is being wasted on the bench for LA. Chicago would be a great fit for Ned. They already have plenty of large players, so his lack of size wouldn't be the end of the world. Also, his skill at passing and accurate finishing could be just what Chicago needs to solidify their offense.

I know LA fans think the world of Ned, but the fact is they would need to sweeten the deal a little more to get Andy Herron...even though he's been a bit off form this season.

Can he play midfield? If not I don't see Grabavoy getting off the bench much with Jaqua and Rolfe on fire. If Herron is still there, he'd be battling him for the #3 forward slot along with Reiter. He'd be better off if he can play right or center mid.

I think that's all he plays. Actually, check that, he was more on the left and center last season. I don't think he plays right at all.

I'm sure he can, since Ned's best foot is his right.

Ned has played the attacking mid-field position in the LAG reserve games, and has been the team captain in those games as well. He played defensive mid in one charity match, and looked credible there as well.

yeah...this would be a typical SS2 move. Guess it's part of some deal with Vargara to make Chivas look better by weakening the Galaxy squad.

Chicago will trade them the 2nd round pick they got from SJ for Kelly Gray.

yea but he may not like to. henry is a righty and prefers to chill on the left.

SS2 is a fucking @ssmunch. i seriously hope he dies if he pulls the trigger on this trade.. actually i hope he dies anyways. X(

anyways, if u guys get grabavoy, you definitely will not be disappointed. he's not the fastest or the biggest but he plays with heart, works hard, and is very sound technically. he's pretty decent on dead balls, can hold onto the ball while dribbling, and can cross decently. not much of a shot but he's not a striker so who cares? all in all, a good midfielder with the potential to be a very good midfielder.

Wow! I haven't checked BS for oh... half a day... and a GREAT topic gets started concerning Ned. I truly hope this rumor is true. Ned could certainly use the trade. Concerning his abilities, he is a tremendous utility player. He can obviously play up top, but he can also play any midfield position as well. And to continue with my propaganda, he's also a free kick specialist. :)

I see the Herron/Grabavoy trade fairly even. The only reason that I think they'd have to "sweeten the deal" is because... well let's face it, Steve Sampson is a complete potato head. Grabavoy's perceived value is down because Uncle Fester won't pull him off the bench.

Can Herron play as a lone forward for in Sampson's 4-4-Landon-1 formation?
