The lowestfare.com ad must go immediately Otherwise it's impossible to surf the site without going nuts with this poping up every 10 seconds:
Re: The ugly ads must go immediately I'l boycott this forum if these ads aren't taken out. They are the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. Did the admins even try surfing the site themselves before trying this disaster of an experiment?
Re: The lowestfare.com ad must go immediately I thought my membership avoided these annoying ads? I keep getting AMEX and Cingular pop ups. MAKE IT STOP!
Re: The lowestfare.com ad must go immediately Depends on which one you signed up for. The $15 membership still gives you the ads, the $33 membership gives you no ads (or is supposed to).
Re: The lowestfare.com ad must go immediately Well these popdown ads (which I have also seen on ESPN and cbs sportaline) are beyond annoying. Pretty much ot the point where I could see myself getting hacked off enough to just stop coming here. No matter how addicted I am to it. It's one day and already I feel like putting my fist through the screen
Heads up - our ad sales guy is testing a new ad format with cingular and amex. its only suppossed to open up on mouse over, and the first tme you see it. comments complaints and suggestions are welcome here during the test period.
ACtually given the immediate level of complaints i see in another thread i've told them to pull them immediately.
Amusingly enough, that's not actually what it's doing. EDIT - based on second post - I think the seething rage was more about the constant re-popping on every page, no matter if your mouse was anywhere near the place.
Thank you for pulling the ads. From one web developer to another, might I suggest a development environment for BigSoccer. A very small, local environment will help you work out bugs like this (and a few others I notice around here) before 1,000 BS posters start complaining (Lord knows they have enough now). Just a suggestion...
Yeah, that's exactly how most production websites are run. Production websites are never messed around impacting live end-users, before changes are tested on a development website first. Of course, it costs money to setup and maintain development environments (hardware costs, extra copies of software, time spent by employees migrating changes from dev to production, etc.). But if the revenues from current advertising and member subscriptions justify such expenditure, it may be worth it.
The ad tested just fine before going live. It's served by a third party and the code was out of our control. But it tested fine.
Is it at all possible to kill the sound on the paparazzi ad? I think it's been asked before, but I'm not sure.
You should get rid of all adverts. If you want to promote your shop do it via email instead, that way it is private.
thats just unrealistic. im sure this site needs ads. right now i am looking at a verizon, holland america, and a game of their lives ads. all of these are nice.
