Maybe I should've posted this here, instead of the general international forum:

Can someone post their nation's WWC rosters as soon as they are/if they have been announced? Thanks. :)

Average age is just about 26 years. There are 25 players listed, so presumably several will be alternates.

Sad that Daniela Alves did not recover sufficiently from her knee injury, which included both ruptured ligaments and broken bones. I have no idea if she even plays competitively anymore. Brazil will struggle to replace her in the line-up; she usually served as the link-up player between the midfield and forwards, and had a cannon of a shot.

It'll be interesting to see which Cristiane shows up; she has traditionally been a great performer for Brazil in big tournaments, but on the whole was disappointing in WPS (aside from that one hat-trick game).

Looks like we've seen the last of long-time stars Tania, Maycon, Katia, and Pretinha, who all featured in the 2007 edition. Formiga is the most experienced player left, and will be taking part in her fifth Women's World Cup, equaling a record held now by only two players, as far as I know (Lilly and Nordby). Pretinha would have, but she missed out in 2003 due to injury.

Nigeria have convened in Austria for a four-week training camp in preparation for the World Cup. Coached by Eucharia "no lesbians" Uche, the 26-player roster is as follows:

    Goalkeepers
    Precious Dede (31)
    Alaba Jonathan (19)
    Tochukwa Oluehi (24)
    Ogochusku Kenechukwu (?)

    Defense
    Faith Ikidi (24)
    Ulumma Jerome (23)
    Helen Ukaonu (20)
    Josephine Chukwunonye (19)
    Onome Ebi (28)
    Blessing Edoho (19)
    Osinachi Ohale (19)

    Midfield
    Esther Sunday (19)
    Francisca Odehga (17)
    Obere Orji (17)
    Rebecca Kalu (21)
    Glory Iroka (21)
    Uchechi Sunday (16)
    Emueje Ogbiagbehva (?)
    Ogonna Chukwudi (22)
    Rita Chikwelu (23)

    Forwards
    Amenza Aighewi (19)
    Stella Mbachu (33)
    Desire Oparanozie (17)
    Sarah Michael (20)
    Perpetua Nkwocha (35)

Aside from a few old faces (Nkwocha is four time African Women's Footballer of the year), this is a remarkably young squad. Nigeria's youth team finished second only to Germany at last summer's U-20 World Cup, so it makes sense that they want to build the senior team off that positive finish. With an average age of just 22 (leaving out two players whose ages I could not find), it'll be interesting to see if this gamble pays off. Nearly half the team are teenagers, including three seventeen-year olds and one sixteen-year old!

Several notable omissions are former captain Christie George, and 2006 African Women's Footballer of the Year Cynthia Uwak.

I count 25 on Brazil's list so 4 more still have to be cut or made alternatives.
    - Oops, I see now that this was mentioned.

Wow, that this is Formiga's 5th world cup. She seems to not change at all - you have to wonder if she will be the first to play in six World Cups!

And that's really awful about Daniela. I was wondering about her... just a shame. She might've been the 2nd best player for Brazil after Marta.

So we can see more of that pathetic long throw which never seems to get very far.:p

The more I look at Brazil's team, the more I think they could be in serious trouble at Germany. There going through a transitional period, and are now missing one of the female games best players in Daniela.

I think it gets farther than a normal throw-in. However it seems to lack accuracy. ;)

It's great to see Elaine back. She was outstanding in the 2007 final against Germany.

I'm astonished to see Renata Costa. I thought she tore her ACL last November. If she is really ready to play, that will be a huge boost.

That's the one position where Brazil seemed to lack a little edge in the Chile friendly. Perhaps Thais or another youngster will grow into the role. I actually think that Formiga would excel further up the field, too, but then her holding midfield role would become the question.

Japan's Homare Sawa will be in her 5th World Cup this year.

True...so will Birgit Prinz. I didn't list either of them in my earlier post since, God forbid, there's always the chance they could suffer a last minute injury prior to the tournament (knock on wood).

Are there any other 5-timers-to-be out there?

Average age is 26.05, quite experienced team. After the world cup many >30 players are expected to retire, so the next team after the WC could be very young.

Interesting roster for Germany. One thing that struck me is their rather young defense. Usually the typical back line includes at least a few over 30s, but Germany's oldest is Bartusiak at 28. On the other hand, their forwards have loads of experience...and miles on their legs. Would Marozsan have made the roster if she weren't injured?

She is French. She was a bit of a f*ck up back in the day. I guess the Lyon factor wasn't enough, while issues with past performances have obviously stuck with her national coach.

Bouhaddi is unpredictable basically. From superb to making mistakes.
Having seen her live 5 times and in training, she looked good enough. The fact that she might drop the ball any minute did not help her though. Saying that Hope Powell has a replica keeper in Rachel Brown and is happy to take her and might even be her number one choice lol.
