Hello, my name is Brian and I'm a Galaxy supporter in southern California. I plan on traveling for the away game up in your neck of the woods and looking forward to seeing the newly renovated stadium. I was just dropping by if you know what section will be used for away fans and if there's a contact number or email address where I can talk to someone in the FO to plan my visit to the Portland area? Thanks, and welcome to the MLS!
I too plan on visiting PGE Park, however to see the Red Bulls play. We'll be coming from New Jersey, and would appreciate recomendations on hotels and great places to eat while out there too. Thanks and see you in ____ (whenever they release the schedule...)
For anyone else reading this: Away fans will be located section 223 Seating Map If flying in, transit is easy as 1, 2, 3. MAX light rail will get you from the airport baggage claim area to Downtown and PGE with ease. TriMet MAX, Detailed Map If parking, don't defecate near people's houses.
Yeah we certainly don't want any more lawn defecation than is already present. Glad to have you visit the PGE. You'll have a great time. If you drink beer, it's microbrew heaven, Portland is. Try many.
www.portlandhostel.org That is a place to stay, only a 10 minute walk to the stadium. Like said above, the MAX line will take you from the airport to downtown. From there, take Bus 17 to the hostel. Then, enjoy our beer and the town Just don't use an umbrella, you'll get funny looks. Oh, and come on down to the Bitter End Pub. That's where most Timbers fans go before/after the match, some will probably buy you a beer.
That is, by the way, the name of one of the best known and beloved ticket agents in Portland and not a registered sex offender. I don't know about the number.
Last year there was a project to make an away fan guide on google maps with local pubs, gathering spots, stadium, transit to the stadium, etc. I don't know how up to date it is anymore but . . : http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=U...d=100887964645662474994.00048ee2fa17274f64a65
For lodging: Ace Hotel Hotel Modera The Nines Hotel deLuxe Hotel Lucia Jupiter Hotel Hotel Fifty For food: http://pdx.eater.com/archives/2011/01/05/the-38-essential-portland-restaurants-january-2011.php
The Double Tree in Lloyd center is super cheap for that class of hotel and is on the Max Line, and is where the Visiting teams tend to stay, but it's not as close to the Stadium as the others.
107ist and the Timbers Army are currently working on an official section of our website for travelling supporters, I will like to this thread when it is completed.
Playing a little more with the google map thing, it's a good view of the gameday-relevant businesses around the stadium and the city for away fans. Even PGE Park itself. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=U...d=100887964645662474994.00048ee2fa17274f64a65
