Why Cameroon didn't start showing that urgency a half hour ago is anyone's guess.

As to the non-existent foul... I think the ref whistled the cameroonian for the scorpian-kick to the defender's kidneys after the ball went past him.

Well Japan deserved the win, and as nice as it is to see AFC teams do well (especially after Australia's nightmare), I don't feel as proud for Japan as I did for South Korea, since their media is notoriously ungracious.

Cameroon's play seemed to lack urgency until the last 10 minutes or so - they were putting on serious pressure at the end.

90+3' 1-0 Cameroon plays inside-out to 6m wide right, #8 Geremi whips a good cross over the 6-top. #9 Eto'o flies in for a scorpion/donkey kick decoy, #15 Pierre Webo hops up about 2m inside the left post, and flicks a trailing-leg right-instep drag volley on frame -- #21 Eiji Kawashima dives right and catches it.

Yes, it was in the end, but it doesn't make up for that first half and most of the second. Honestly if CIV doesn't overcompensate with a brilliant display to make up for this I may just off myself now and save myself the trouble of having to watch the rest of this tournament. If watching that didn't get Drogba to realize that he must play and nothing can be left to chance, I don't know what will. At least they have a decent manager.

i think it had more to do with Japan going into a shell

for the life of me i cannot understand why these moronic teams play so defensively with a 1 goal lead

the opponents best chances ALWAYS come when you get too defensive

Congratulations to Japan. I think they deserved the win, even if the game was not all that pretty.

Is it just me or did the ref take way too much control of this game? I feel like all a player had to do was fall and they would get the call.

Both teams were horrible. Cameroon more so than Japan, so they deserved to lose I guess, though it's a travesty that Japan will get 3 points for this...

At this point, the low point in a pretty bad WC... hopefully it'll get better from this. Though I don't have high hopes for Italys group, either...

    AFC 1 - 0 CAF

    CONCACAF 1 - 1 CAF

    UEFA 1 - 1 CAF

    CONMEBOL 1 - 0 CAF

It's not a terrible record for Africa so far, actually.

Pleased with the result. This should make it easier for Holland. Japan could be the surprise package in group E.

Terrible match...going from today's performances, Denmark will have no problem winning its remaining games.

congrats japan! i didn't expect this result considering their pre-games but this win is fully deserved, albeit a bit lucky in the closing minutes of the game.

I agree. Cameroon simply got outcoached, outrun, and outhustled.

Did anyone else think that there was a foul on the Cameroonian forward inside the box toward the end where the goalie made a great save but the ref. called a hand ball (I think, not sure) against Cameroon? The Japanese defender definitely brought the forward down!!!
