Posting on a football forum late at night due to influensomnia: why not?

drop one of your defenders and replace with FW/MF for 3-4-3 etc

    My lineup so far:

    Necevski
    Traore, DeVere, Jamieson
    Culina, Hernandez, Gan Kisel
    Sterjovski Smeltz Brosque

Remember, the objective isn't to assemble an team that would actually work well together but to get the players most likely to score from the teams least likely to conceed. Defenders get more points for scoring than FW/MF so my advice is to scan the DF list for guys who can/will play MF and are more likely to score. The reverse applies as well.

Well damn it, then. Here I was creating a balanced team with the best (in my mind), that I could spare over all of the teams and what happens? You go ahead and tell me just to get some mongrel that can score in each position.

    Bah, I'm gonna for balance.

No but I'd rate Brosque to score more and make more assists.

    Velaphi
    Todd - Byun - Cole
    Culina - Reid - Hernandez - Kisel
    Sterjovski - Jelic - Aloisi (C)

Aloisi to bag a couple of goals against NQF.

Substitutes: Nash (GK) - Traore - Griffiths - Griffin

Rostyn Griffiths was a good cheap pick up for the bench, figure he'll get game time at NQF.

This is easily the most uncertain A-League season yet but Holy Jesus's Lightsaber Armpits the entire Adelaide Midfield is ridiculously underpriced: Shin, Reid and Barbiero all at <6 is just madness.

No one buy anyone from the NQ defense line unless they're cheap as chips and you keep them on the bench. I'd lay off buying CBs or DMs unless they're 1) From a strong defensive team (know one knows who that is yet) 2) known to score the odd goal/assist (in which case they won't be cheap).

    Overpriced:

Fowler 10.5 - may come good but has shite team around him and that's got to be taken into account
Dodd 10.5 - Jusst slightly overpriced, would only buy if I thought AU were going to sweep the league again.
Bridge 10, really? He was shit last season and hasn't done well in China, big risk
Muscat 10 - I have my doubts after seeing the Fulham game, may give away more penaltiess than take them
Caceres 9 - most creative Mariner, so what? Would you take him over Culina?
Talay 8.5 - the only way he was priced this high was to make NQF look respectable
Musialik 8 - why you'd take him over Reid, Barbiero, Gan, Shin etc I have no idea

Some of the pricing is ridiculous:

→ Brockie is 7.5 while Jelic is only 6.5
Do we take a guy that's never played in a league better than the A-League over a guy who's played in the Bundesliga and won the golden boot in the CSL?

and no doubt others that I'd list but a bit busy at the moment but figure this was a good example of some bad pricing!

Thanks for letting me know about this El-Cap:)

    First:
    Velaphi Goalkeeper
    Elrich Defender
    DeVere Defender
    Neville Defender
    Cole Defender
    Sikora Midfielder
    Culina Midfielder
    Jin-Hyung Song Midfielder
    Celeski Midfielder
    Minniecon Forward
    Sterjovski (C) Forward
    Subs:
    Vanstratten Goalkeeper
    D'Apuzzo Defender
    Cernak Midfielder
    Elasi Forward

Will make more changes closer to the start - Saw Neville play tonight and he is class -top buy for cheap and looks like he'll be playing. Still no Chris Coyne though?

I don't think I'll worry about Coyne, he'll undoubtedly be a bit more expensive than Todd, who is just as good if not better than Coyne.

I think selecting Neville is good but it's a little speculative whether he starts, Mitchell can be unpredictable with his starting line up, no doubt at some point Downey would get a starting gig (even though Neville is better).

    IMO.

    ;)

Just had a quick crack at it.

    My team looks like this:

    -----------------Velaphi-------------
    -------Alemao---De Vere--Thwaite---
    -Hernandez---Culina----Miller---Reid--
    -----Sterjovski---Porter---Thompson--

    Subs: Vrteski, Traore, Jurman, Dodd

Will probably end up changing it a bit though.

Not sure about Velaphi as i'm not sure how much Perth will have improved. I'm just hoping their DM's and good but glacial CBs will help him keep some clean sheets.

Anyone have the results of last years comp?? Seem to remember the Victory boys doing alright and being there abouts.
