Barra Brava FC, in cooperation with Nadine Namoff, is pleased to host the 1st Annual D.C. United Supporters’ Charity Shield Match with Screaming Eagles FC on Sunday, June 7th at Robinson Field on the campus on George Mason University. Starting at 1:00 p.m with the women's teams and continuing at 3:00 p.m. with the men, Barra Brava FC and Screaming Eagles FC will feature in a friendly doubleheader benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Wounded Warriors Project. 100% of proceeds raised by ticket sales and your charitable donations will be split between the participating charities.

In addition to supporting your fellow fans and two outstanding charities, attendees will also get the chance to meet many of the players from our defending U.S. Open Cup Champions, DC United. With the United fans becoming players and the United players becoming fans, this is a truly unique and exciting event that you won't want to miss.

What: Barra Brava FC vs. Screaming Eagles FC
Where: Robinson Field, George Mason University
    When: Sunday, June 7th, 1:00 p.m. ET
    Donation: $10

Although newly established, Barra Brava FC makes it our goal to support the philanthropic efforts of DC United. The “Charity Shield” will serve as a trophy and proud symbol of the charitable efforts of the great fans of D.C. United. I don't know if the matches themselves will be any good, but I'm expecting the smack-talk in this thread to be epic. :D

Awesome - and out at least toward the west so I might be able to attend.

Will it be an All-Star Screaming Eagles FC team, or just one of the specific teams? I say play the top-flight (WISL?) team and make a joke out of it :D

not sure who will win, don't even care - but one thing's for sure, the referee is sure to receive plenty of abuse both ways :D

Now the most important question ........ where's the tailgate? :D

So is this the pick-up game matt rose has been talking about with barra girls vs screaming eagles girls that volunteer to play, or is this actually a match between two organized teams? Because i wanted to play but i'm not on a team (probably not good enough anyway!)

    :)

Hey, so long as I can get a receipt that the IRS will accept, it's all good.

Barra Brava FC women are recruiting players, but it will probably be some pretty competitive players. Either way, get in touch with me if you have questions.

We are looking for volunteers: a photographer, someone to work the donations tables, etc.

Email me if you'd like to help.

    Thanks.

You'll probably just get hammered in the parking lot and forget you were ever there.

Unlikely... There is a flyer that I guess hasn't been posted but there is no beer on the premises and that includes the parking lot

Brion's Grill is a short walk away and is designated as the pre-post game place

And the Barra Team is our WISL team

If this is the GMU in Fairfax, the Auld Shabeen in Fairfax City is a great Irish pub. Very Soccer friendly. They have a down stairs bar that they usually let groups use. If it’s open. Great times there. 3971 Chain Bridge Rd Fairfax, VA 22030 - (703) 293-9600

    Hilarious!!!!!

I haven't seen the Eagles team in a few years and I've never seen the Barra team, but I think defense might not be what either do best :)

As to which group will be more offensive ......... I predict both ;) yes, I did pronounce that a bit differently ..............

Thanks for all the support from everyone. This is looking like its going to be a great event. At this point, you could all help us by spreading the word and getting as many of your friends, family and co-workers to the match as possible. And we are still looking for volunteers just in case some help is needed on game day.

    Thanks everyone.

I just wish you weren't having this on the weekend of the national team game in Chicago. I'll be there, and will have to miss this event.

Yeah, I know....Unfortunately, we had to work around United's schedule and this was one of the few weekends available. But This will be an annual event and we'll have more time to find the best weekend next year.
