From the Rapids email release sent out today...

"The Rapids and the Denver Broncos have teamed up to prevent domestic
violence with the "Event to Prevent" following the Rapids game. An
exibition soccer game featuring the Rapids Wives vs. Broncos Wives, the
Broncos Cheerleaders, Broncos Alumni, and a free concert by Denver's own
Nina Storey Band are just some of the entertainment
highlights. This event is free to any fan with a Rapids game ticket on Sat. Aug. 24.
4:00pm - Broncos Cheerleaders perform / Broncos alumni autographs
4:05pm - Rapids Wives vs. Broncos Wives Exhibition Game
4:30pm-5:15pm - Nina Storey Band performs"

The wives vs. the NFL wives! Soccer vs. football and a catfight to boot! Quality. Can we keep on ESPN2 for a few extra minutes following the Soccer Sat. game?

If they lose, Rapids should move.

hehe, soccer vs. football is fun. I remember in high school where our Football team played the soccer team. I almost scored but the goalie saved it and we ended up losing 2 - 0 but it was a blast. Thats ok though cuz we kicked their asses in football :)

I hope that you were on the football team? It just struck me as a little funny because most people here would have played soccer in school...not football. Oh well...still happy to have you on board.

Getting back to the Football vs. Soccer teams playing each others sports for fun. It never really seemed like a fair match-up to me. A high school football team will have around 40 or so players. With that many people playing your bound to have a lot of regular sized guys (RB, QB, WR, DB etc.) that can run around and play soccer. Alternatively, Soccer teams in general don't have a lot of guys that could play on the line (either offensive or defensive) so they end up getting killed.

i must admit, this does trouble me... the bronco wives can pick and choose through like 400 of them (500 if they haven't made all their cuts yet)

although i fully expect there to be a couple of rapid wives that can walk through both teams with the ball

    prediction: RW 4 BW 0

although the bronco wives might very well hold a large advantage on size

Yea I was on ethe football team...but its not like we played in pads or anything and we didn't really try running the ball at them. so it was actualy fairly even. And actually they had a bit of an advantage cuz the soccer players are a bit quicker and their cleats allow for more movement than football spikes.

Good to see the Broncos and Rapids working together. Hopefully it will lead to more such events.

We expect a full report, with pictures, if possible.

Not so fast. I think Lisa McCaffrey (Wide receiver Ed McCaffrey's wife) played soccer at Stanford. They've got a ringer.

I thought this was about a bikini contest or something...

I think they mentioned somewhere that both teams would be in bikinis and rubbed down with baby oil before the game.

....or perhaps I was at the wrong website again.

If that's true, then we had better see Celebrity Substitution Veronica Paysee.

In recognition of domestic abuse, will they be issuing complimentary white-ribbed Fruit of the Loom tank tops at the game?

Rapids wives win 3-2. Lisa McCaffery is a ringer, Probably the best one on the field.

I think we all knew that even before the game. The game was just evidence to prove the case.

A few observations from the fiasco at Invesco:

    1. Athletes wives are either trophies or athletes.

    2. Being a football wife does not make you an athlete.

    3. Don't wear a denim skirt and your handbag if you are participating in an athletic event.

    4. The Rapids wives are ripe for a lesbian video shoot, and I mean that in the most flattering way possible.

    5. Football wives are not the best candidates for anti-domestic abuse campaigns. It takes way too much makeup to coverup those bruises, and the limping is way supsicious.

    Peace.

    Pigs Eye (St. Paul),
Robb Stone said during the game broadcast yesterday that Robin Fraser's wife is a ringer. Anybody have some details?

Was the game played on Saturday after the regular game? What were the results?
