The final draw for Euro 2004 will be held at November 30. If the same criteria will be observed as for the WC 2006 qualifying draw then this will be the ranking of the participating teams (teams in red will have to play play-off's first).

    Pot A
    Portugal 2.40 (24/10) hosts
    France 3.00 (24/8) title holder
    Sweden 2.39 (43/18)
    Czech Rep. 2.33 (42/18)

    Pot B
    England 2.31 (37/16) 2.50 for Euro 2004
    Italy 2.31 (37/16) 2.13 for Euro 2004, GD +1.63
    Spain 2.31 (37/16) 2.13 for Euro 2004, GD +1.50
    Turkey 2.22 (40/18)

    Pot B or Pot C
    Germany 2.19 (35/16)
    Netherlands 2.17 (39/18)
    Croatia 2.13 (34/16)

    Denmark 2.056 (37/18) 1.88 for Euro 2004

    Pot C or Pot D
    Russia 2.056 (37/18) 1.75 for Euro 2004
    Bulgaria 1.89 (34/18) 2.13 for Euro 2004
    Slovenia 1.89 (34/18) 1.75 for Euro 2004
    Scotland 1.81 (29/16)

    Switzerland 1.61 (29/18)

    Pot D
    Greece 1.56 (25/16)
    Norway 1.33 (24/18)
    Latvia 1.25 (20/16)
    Wales 1.22 (22/18)

Wow, Pot B is going to be really strong, eh? But then the Euro Championship always has tough competitive groups.

Imagine this for a possible group: France, Italy, Netherlands and Norway. Heh :D

I don't think the same criteria with the WC'06 qualifiying will be applied to the championship. In WC'02 they had sorted them according to the ranking of last three years and ranking in the last three world cups. I mean giving 32 points to the highest ranking and 1 pts to the 32nd, they had a formula similar to this one:

    total points= {[(WC90 points)*1 + (WC94 points)*2 + (WC98 points)*3] / 6} + {[(rank99 points) + (rank00 points) + (rank01 points)] / 3}

anyway, I think they won't ignore the results of previous European Championships.

That was for the World Cup. You can't compare qualifying in the World Cup, because the qualifying is so different when you compare the confederations.
I thought I read somewhere that they will use the criteria I used, but I'm not sure.

    From UEFA:

"The UEFA Administration decides how the groups will be formed. The seeded teams will be the host association, with the reigning European champions if they qualify, and two or three teams with the best coefficients on the basis of results achieved in the 2000/02 World Cup qualifying competition and/or in the qualifying competition for the 2002/04 UEFA European Football Championship.

The other finalists will be assigned to the four groups by means of a draw, according to their coefficients. If any of the teams in question have the same coefficient, the following criteria relating to the current UEFA European Football Championship qualifying competition will be determinant, in the order given:
    a) Average number of goals scored per match
    b) Average number of goals conceded per match
    c) Average number of away goals scored per match
    d) Drawing of lots"

I'd like to see them separate teams who were in the same qualifying group.

They won't. At Euro 2000 Norway and Slovenia played each other both in the qualifying and the final groupround. The same was the case for Portugal and Romania.

With the winners of the play-off's known, also the seeding is known now:

    Pot A
    Portugal 2.40 (24/10) hosts
    France 3.00 (24/8) title holder
    Sweden 2.39 (43/18)
    Czech Rep. 2.33 (42/18)

    Pot B
    England 2.31 (37/16) 2.50 for Euro 2004
    Italy 2.31 (37/16) 2.13 for Euro 2004, GD +1.63
    Spain 2.31 (37/16) 2.13 for Euro 2004, GD +1.50
    Germany 2.19 (35/16)

    Pot C
    Netherlands 2.17 (39/18)
    Croatia 2.13 (34/16)
    Denmark 2.056 (37/18) 1.88 for Euro 2004
    Russia 2.056 (37/18) 1.75 for Euro 2004

    Pot D
    Bulgaria 1.89 (34/18)
    Switzerland 1.61 (29/18)
    Greece 1.56 (25/16)
    Latvia 1.25 (20/16)

Germany and Russia profit from the elimination of Turkey. Germany just slipped into Pot B (and will avoid England, Spain and Italy in the groupround) and Russia slipped into Pot C (and will avoid Netherlands, Croatia and Denmark in the groupround).

Lucky b*stards. Especially the Germans, though I'm hoping they still get France and the Netherlands in their group, that will teach them a lesson :D

I'm hoping for a France, England, Ned. group of death! That would be awesome!

I think whichever group Holland fall into will be the quickly tauted as the group of death.

As Pot B is undoubtedly stronger than Pot A I'm pretty happy about the draw. The only team that concerns me outside of Pot B is France. If England raise their game to their potential we can get results against everyone else.

I guess the Czech rep. and Portugal don't concern you ha? I have a feeling if you play against ether one of theses teams you will fall on your ass.

Oh you mean like we were supposed fall on our asses against Turkey in qualifying or against Argentina in the WC.

The Czech's and Portugeese are good teams but they are more than capable of slipping up and neither have the quality throughout the team that Italy or France has.

I agree they are capable of slipping, but they are also very capable of defeting you, mainly Portugal, they seem to do very well against you some how...look what i'm saying is that you are already pretty much desmissing other teams but France. Yes, France is the favorite to win, but i think the Czech's are playing very well and could be a big suprise in Portugal.

Well you were the one that jumped on my back. I only stated that IF England play well we should be able to get a result ie. a win OR a draw. In other words, they don't terrify me like France or Brazil do.
Its very possible that England could play badly and lose to one of those teams. Who knows, we could draw with Macedonia at home or lose to Australia in a friendly. Um...thats already happened.

Which I think would be wrong, as Denmark are far more consistent.

I think we are very unpredictable. The last two Euro tournaments have been very poor result wise but i am pretty optimistic about the team who is going to Portugal. Not optimistic as in we will win the whole damn thing but more like we are able to surprise a few. Dont count on us but dont write us off aswell :)

I do however hope we avoid France and Italy in the group phase. Not that the other teams are not good, but I think these 2 are the strongest in Europe at the moment. And I think France would be eager to whipe the fiasco in Korea off them

That is a very good point.
Of the teams that we can possibly get drawn against i am hoping to avoid the Danes, French and Dutch.

I think that's the case with 15 other teams, too. :)

Hmm.....by looking at the pots I'm hoping for Sweden, Germany, Croatia, and Switzerland.

But with our luck it will probably be France, Italy, Holland, and Switzerland...

    Either way,

...proving once again that the Euro Championships are a lot more unforgiving than the World Cup

no easy games to kick things off
