seems like Paolo Suarez is getting closer and closer to becoming a naturalized Salvadoran in the next couple of months...hoping one day to suit up in our colors.
He's 30 (going on 31) and plays midfield (a position we seem to have a lot of talent for...). Paolo considers himself as playing the best soccer as of late so who knows...i don't want to discard him as a Selecta player but the age thing doesn't really help matters...anyways, anyone think he can potentially help or benefit our NT?? I havent really followed Suarez and his style of play to know much about him...

Hey the more good players they have the better. Makes it more players for the coach to choose from. Just incase any key player gets injured or when they need to make a B team.

Just leaving this note here for it can be known after Rugamas has vacated the position.

I think we should have cheyo on the bench.

Im thinking this line up for the future.

    ------------------Portillo----------------

    Salazar----------Anaya-----Purdy-----Umanzor

    Martinez----------Miranda------------Jaime

    -----------------Alvarez---------------

    ---------Zelaya----------Burgos-------

We would have super subs like Castillo, Romero and Cheyo

Here is another one I have on mind.

    ------------------Portillo---------

    Salazar---------Anaya-----Purdy-------Umanzor

    Romero------------Miranda------------Martins

    ------------------Jaime---------------

    --------Zelaya-------Alvarez-------

Maybe Garcia for Umanzor, depends how they do, Turcios and D. Alas could step up in case Miranda doesnt play well.

I dont think we would get any better players for now, maybe Burgos Jr would step up too.

We would look solid I think, now we need a more attacking coach, althought I think Rugamas is doing ok, he is not that bad.

I really like and am very impressed with Dago Portillo. I said keep they guy for now. I like his presence and the way he cheers up the other players without being condescending or annoying. Goalkeeper position is the least of our problems.
Have never been a big fan of Salazar playing right back - he looked out of position thru and thru - rather have Anaya there, As far as center backs Marvis is ok but we really need to start looking at yourger guys in that position, as well as left back...Arevalo from Alianza is a decent left back they ought to give him a try.

Yeah I agree Portillo is the best fit for now and I wouldn't go back to Montes unless Portillo's form drops or is injured. I like that we now have different attacking options now if we could get a solid and younger back 4 we would be in pretty good shape.

our players pool keeps getting bigger and better.

anybody knows anything about snal? the uruguayan-salvi?

somebody said he is slow, but he should be very strong.

Anaya, Snal, and Purdy in the middle?

Salazar def needs to come back to take garcias position, Umanzor is good there I think.

    D. Alas is good at recovering, once he has the ball is that he is terrible, but if he limits himself to only recovering and do short passes, i think he is ok, ill rather have sanchez back than d. alas.

Burgos seems legit, Diaz Arce was better but Burgo is somewhere in there, more of a Rudy Corrales, but bigger.

More like Rudis Corrales. Diaz Arce different style of play he didn't dribble much he just knew where to position himself on the field and most of his goals came from headers which is another thing that made him famous because he made really good goals from headers.

Paolo Suarez would be a GREAT addition to the team.

A foreing player that has been in El Salvador for a while, and plans to live in El Salvador deserves a chance I think. Suarez has been a great player for Metapan and he is been in El Salvador for quite some time now.

I dont know much about it but it will be great to have him on the team.

There is a rumor that another Uruguayan got his Salvadoran citizenship, Marcelo Mesias I think, I think I remember him, he used to play for Fas, a big center back, I dont know how fast he is but we can use his size.

We have good talent, all we need is SIZE and some speed in the back, but Im very excited with this group of players, and with the ones coming in.

Our "old" players are not that old, and whoever think Zelaya, Castillo and all of them shouldn't have a chance, all I can tell you is, you dont like winning do you?

We have to pick our best players, regardless of age, and Zeyala is still our best striker, Alas hasnt done anything that would let Castillo out, Salazar NEEDS TO BE BACK, Martinez, even Cheyo and Sanchez need a shot.

Remember that most of those players are in Alianza and they did make it to the championship, Aguila made it to the final 4 too.

I don't think anyone has said Zelaya is to old and I don't remember reading that all these "old" players should be off the team forever so long as you don't retire from the international player pool you can always come back. Why are people acting like these guys are cut as if this is tryouts for a club team and once you are left off an UNCAF roster your somehow done. Rugamas isn't even going to be our coach for very long just because he isn't calling these guys in doesn't mean the next guy won't, its pretty clear Rugamas is going to be gone its its just a question of when and for who. All the guys you listed can come back and probably will get a look by whoever the new coach is. But what is so wrong with taking the approach of looking at this as a four year cycle and using January to take a look at a few new guys. Several countries use the first January of a new cycle to look for depth the USA played Chile yesterday with a whole squad of guys they are testing out. Honduras and Costa Rica bring their B squads to the UNCAF if we beat them and win the UNCAF with our "old" guys what did we really achieve? That balanced squad of "old" guys and some of the newer young guys is going to be there for the gold cup and qualifiers I'm sure but for now lets find out who the young guys should be as part of that balanced squad. These games are much better to bring guys into the squad then friendlies were you get a lot more substitutions that can disrupt the flow of the game and you don't get the pressure of having to perform in a meaningful game. Besides Martinez is injured so he can't help us win the UNCAF.
