    Well, I obviously don't know what happened there. But isn't the topic's title misleading?
    It says "German 1954 World Cup winners 'were doped'" but in the text it says
    "[...]some players [...] may have been injected with the same stimulant given to tank crews and Luftwaffe pilots during World War II."

    It also says:
    "Dorothee Alfermann of the University of Leipzig said the study itself had not covered the subject of the 1954 World Cup team until now, but that Eggert had presented his theory in an earlier publication and had briefly touched on the subject during Monday’s presentation of the broader doping study."

    So actually it's just the same rumour we already heard about years ago.

    That's nothing ... I'll bet you'd find a lot of tales of substances in peoples' bodies in the pre-BALCO days. I'm not just talking about recreational drugs, either. Think Tom Simpson.

    Yeah, thread title changed. Don't put something in quote marks if it's not an actual quote, it's misleading.
