Everytime Peter Crouch gets significant playing time, he produces goals or causes a general ruckus in the box. I cant think of another player who gets dissrespected so much by coaches and fans but produces at such a high rate. I think Crouch needs to play more in the premiership games along with the action he usually gets in europe
This discussion has already happened. Every member of this forum has their own exact opinion on Peter Crouch. It's really not a good point to discuss anymore. It really just turns this board into a place that isn't fun, because people get angry at each other.
He hasnt been on the subs bench today, he hasnt had much playing time at all-strange for someone who got so many goals for the club last year. If Rafa dont start using him soon, I can see him moving on in January and that would be a big loss.
I wouldn't be surprised if we lose Crouch, especially with the emergence of Voronin. I knew at the beginning of the season that five good strikers was too many. I don't want us to become the Spurs with good strikers that don't get the playing time they deserve. If Crouch does go I doubt Rafa lets him go to in the Premiership.
We've only played 3 league games so far, so its way too early to say that Crouch won't be a part of the plans. If we sold Crouch that would mean that we have to sign another striker again, and you are never going to find another Crouch. So it makes no sense for Liverpool to sell him. Crouch just needs to keep working hard and play well whenever he does get the chance. He may see more time in Europe than anyone else this season. Sissoko and Alonso just signed new contracts knowing that their place in the team is far from guaranteed. They both had offers from huge clubs abroad but chose to stay at Liverpool and fight for their place. I hope Crouch has that same attitude. I think it works against him that he may not form the best partnership with Torres. Torres has been playing in front of Kuyt/Voronin, and Crouch can't really fill that support striker role. If Crouch can't play with Torres, he won't play very often because Torres is clearly our best striker.
He has expressed before how much he wants to stay at Liverpool, and it's much too early in the season to say anything. I suspect he'll get some starts against these bottom table teams coming up and hopefully he'll gain some confidence and fight for his place.
I'm not saying I want to sell Crouch, I have actually grown to like him as a player. The thing is if Voronin and Torres keep up their performances and Kuyt plays like he did last year then Crouch may find it harder to get a game. IMHO, I think Crouch should get more games. I wonder if Rafa and him have some type of weird relationship, because sometimes he plays a lot and other times he won't play very much. He will score a hat trick and then not play the next game.
Rafa loves rotating and uses Crouch fittingly. He's an impact player and I find he does well off the bench. Hopefully he stays and gets a decent amount of games. Probably CC, FA cup and some CL games and some premiership. With a 60 game season, he could still play 30 games.
With the chances he creates, the openings he gets, and his huge advantage over pretty much EVERY player, he should be producing a lot more. He's an average (if that) header of the ball. No doubt he doesnt always get the credit he deserves but sheeehs, World Class is waaay off base.
Yea, I think it was mentioned somewhere about "tiers" of class. World. International. Domestic. I think he is international class. Good enough to compete at the highest level of more than one league and good enough to compete at the international level. However, he isn't exceptional at the international tournaments. But, overall, he's got a lot to be proud of - for a guy who wasn't even getting a game at some dead end clubs.
If the 4th choise striker at Liverpool is "world class", we must have signed Marradona and Pele when I wasn't watching. Or is there a new "Universe Class" of player now. In which case I would a agree Peter is a world class player.
No doubt he doesnt always get the credit he deserves but sheeehs, World Class is waaay off base.[/QUOTE] I concede that World Class is a little much, but i was just trying to stir some conversation on the subject. I still believe that he is in the top half of strikers in the world though. He obviously isnt Henry or Rooney, but he is a consistent performer
I would put Crouch in with strikers like Anelka, Martins, Viduka, and say Yakubu. I don't know, I think if he got regular games in the prem like those strikers do he could easily stay level or out score those guys.
Crouchinho – The legend of Peter Crouch https://allbluedaze.com/2020/04/27/crouchinho-the-legend-of-peter-crouch/
Have to disagree. He wasn't at Anelka's level, nor Viduka's. He was a very good player, but not a top club striker, I think. More Mark Hateley than Mark Viduka. People forget how lethal Viduka was when at Leeds....
I've just realized that I had almost completely forgotten that Andriy Voronin played for Liverpool.... wow ...
