OK, sorry no answer yet we're still weighing the options. But let me toss this out, what if we added a Springfield, VA stop (like the metro station) and a stop either in Baltimore (or isn't there some commuter lot right outside the city, I seem to recall stopping there on the Midnight Madness trip to Foxboro), would this get you on board? We still need to hear from a few more people so contact Jessica. K
There us a rest stop right at the top of the Balt-Washington where 295 goes back into 95, is that what you're talking about?
I have been removed from SE, due to the actions of the other week. I did violate one of their rules, I understand the decision and will abide by it, not that I have a choice Anyone looking to car pool up?
That's where we had the pickup that time in 2002. I suggested maybe across the street from the Travel Plaza. The Dragon Express type buses stop at the truck stop on the other side of the O'Donnell street cutoff. It's only 100 yards off the exit ramp.
How about at the Best Western Hotel & Conference Center Not only is there free parking, but maybe you can catch a show after the match at Toby's Dinner Theatre
That's the Travel Plaza. I don't think Greyhound and Peter Pan will take to kindly to a Charter Bus rolling up into their turf. That's why I suggested across the street. People can park in the Travel Plaza lot, just keep it on the down low.
You guys are are doing a great job towards helping us with the possibility of filling a second bus. Keep it coming! If you're still thinking about it, don't! It's the Metro... I mean RedBulls! I know everyone wants to witness in person us handing RedBulls a loss in their house. Get your emails to me at roadtrips@screaming-eagles.com
Oh, and with adding a "nearly in Baltimore stop" we can also look into a Springfield, VA stop (like the Springfield metro) if that would help people (let Jessica know). K
It is amusing to me that it wasn't until the email message about the second bus that my better half realized that it was an afternoon match... the early return time means that now she and the urchin will be able to join the traveling horde I wonder how many others will take this unusual game time as an opportunity to introducing the entire family to an SE roadtrip? One bus. What I'm working on is having the two busses do two different starting routes if that makes sense.
I am puzzled how a "Travel Plaza" would not be an appropriate place for a charter bus to pick up passengers for a specific non-Greyhound destination. Or is this just a backlash against the Dragon Express-style buses?
You can get on in Springfield (assuming we do a Springfield stop - I'm still working that out). What number bus you signed up for is just logistic. You don't HAVE to be on the "first" bus.
OK, here's the update: We now have 2 busses. Red Bus 10:00 am leave Summers restaurant/Arlington 10:30 am stop at New Carrollton Black Bus 10:00 am leave Franconia/Springfield metro (meet in the Kiss & Ride area) 11:30 am stop at Chesapeake House off 95 (and this is a guess on the time, if anyone has a better idea let me know). Now, if you've already signed up for the first bus and want to change your pick up spot, no problem (just let Jessica know). Our hope is that we'll get an even distribution between the 2 busses (but if we have overcrowding say like at Summers we'll have to work it out). If you have questions, send an email to roadtrips@screaming-eagles.com K
Thanks for all your efforts to make this a historic trek for DC fans!! On a Saturday morning an hour and a half seems a tad long, you might want folks to at least gather at the latter stop by 11am. KGDG Come On United (States and DC) www.screaming-eagles.com
No quibble with your guestimation Just want to make sure those passengers from the "northern burbs" don't oversleep and roll in too late and slow the Black Bus down from its appointment with destiny!!
Any ideas if we are going to have the section all for ourselves again or have things change now that RB is in charge?
