Yup, I've been there before. It's a nice place, especially along the river. Vila Real is actually a pretty good size city which lots of shopping areas, tall buildings, and even a McDonald's.
yeah Lisboa has soe really rough spots. I still love Lisboa and the south of Portugal more then anything else. We wake up in the morning and you here BOSS AC blasting from outside! OLAIAS!!!! LISBOA!!!!!
When i am in Portugal and i open the windows the only blasting i hear is the vespas that the Betos drive......i believe now some of them have upgraded to Fiat's or Peugeot's!!
Porque era o Porto, pá. Esgotou com o Manchester e com o Liverpool, que são equipas ao nível do Benfica, europeias, mundiais, de prestígio, tás a ver? Também esgotámos com o Sporting, mas isso foi porque era dia de circo. Mas mesmo sem esgotar mete mais (os tais 54 mil) que o Sporting ou o Porto conseguiriam sentar no estádio e espalhar pelos arredores!
Caro Congamako, A primeira pergunta que me ocorre ao ler o teu post é esta: onde é que andou essa equipa de tão elevado gabarito europeu durante os últimos dez anos, enquanto o Porto se passeava pela Europa? E os seus adeptos? Onde estavam eles ainda há bem pouco tempo, quando era normal essa equipa ter assistências de 8.000 pessoas? Não sei se estás interessado em explicações plausíveis para o facto do estádio da Luz não ter enchido no jogo com o Porto, ou se estás apenas interessado em ser cegamente anti Porto (mesmo correndo o risco de caír no ridiculo). Seja como fôr não me custa nada esclarecer-te. Não achas que o facto de apenas 5 dias antes se ter disputado um outro jogo de casa cheia (SLB-Liverpool) ajude a explicar qualquer coisa? É que eu não sei se tu sabes, mas aqui em Portugal o dinheiro não abunda para ir à bola quase dia sim dia não. Como tal, muita gente optou... ou um jogo ou o outro. Ora, tendo em conta que os Vermelhuscos andam todos empolgados com a sua primeira participação condigna na Liga dos Campeões (lá está o vosso gabarito europeu), e tendo ainda em conta que no campeonato já foram cos porcos (o costume)... é natural que muita gente tenha antes optado pelo jogo com o Liverpool. É preciso também não esquecer que o jogo com o Porto foi disputado no fim de semana do Carnaval, quando muita gente aproveita para arrancar de Lisboa e ir passar o fim de semana à santa terrinha. Há dúvidas?

Mas prefiro responder apenas ao estar “interessado em explicações plausíveis”. Aqui. Não posso estar. Nestes fóruns, nem nisso nem em discutir seriamente assuntos de futebol com pessoas com confundem “equipa” com “clube”, ou que espezinham a estatística (que apesar de interpretativa é uma ciência) na vigarice da tapadinha. Tal como não seria imaginável eu perder um pensamento, um sequer, com pessoas que, não sabendo ler um destino na traseira de um autocarro, se permitem dizer que “nós” (eles também, claro) “fomos à Índia”. Tendo em conta a qualidade do interlocutor-tipo, o máximo que saldo ao meu gosto pelo contraditório é usar as mesmas navalhas do adversário, e no estado em que elas se apresentam. Aqui não há realidade, nem objectividade, nem seriedade, nem espírito pedagógico ou informativo – os que pensam o futebol e os conflitos que ele gera não exprimem as suas conclusões em fóruns virtuais, não é verdade? Aqui não há nada de sério: há clubismo sem camaradagem desportiva. E estupidez, bastante. E se surge algo que aparente ser sério, não é; trata-se apenas de ingenuidade. Caro Congamako, Garanto-lhe que se soubesse que estava a lidar com um erudito do futebol teria usado as palavras "clube" e "equipa" com muito mais cuidado e critério. Já em relação à estatística não posso dizer o mesmo. Tem toda a razão, espezinho-a sem pudor algum ao abrigo da tal interpretatividade. Mas isso é um defeito meu. Nunca gostei de estatística. Quanto ao resto, acho que podia ter-nos poupado ao exercício de retórica, gasto de resto, e dizer simplesmente que estava a armar-se em parvo e que não estava a falar a sério. Sempre teria sido menos aborrecido.
I was at that game....It was really ugly. Sporting was up 1-0 at halftime and then the 2nd half NE played alot better and Sporting got ugly 2 red cards and injured 2 players. They ended up losing 2-1. Alot of sporting fans there and i think it was more then 7500 attendance
Looks like u didnt understand, hez saying that the Benfica vs Porto there was only 54 thoushand in the stadium when the Benfica stadium takes 65 thousand. and that 54 thousand ppl is already more ppl than wat scp and fcp stadiums take both of them are 50 thousand.

i believe that Benfica has around 15 million or more world wide. Just in portugal are more than 5 million. then theres portuguese ppl all over the world, plus ex colonies like angola, mocambique, macau, cabo verde etc........ Then when Benfica won the league title last year there were celebrations all over the world, all those ex-colonies celebrated Benfica's win. Plus in countries with portuguese imigrants like France, US, Switzerland, belgium, uk, holand, germany etc........ there was big celebrations, none of that happen when fcp or scp won. Here in the U.S in newark Benfica's celebration is way bigger than portos or sportems, there were more ppl celebrating benfica's taca de portugal 2 years ago, than portos champions league. Plus alot of ppl from other countries, the portuguese team they know is Benfica. they even ask if in portugal there only 1 team cuz they only know Benfica. So Benfica is the most recognized portuguese team in the world. and thats a fact.
You forgot to add Brazil as a past-colony of ours that has at least 5 million benfiquistas... and don't forget the new long-lost-colony called China that LFV is starting to explore and their 200 million supporters of the red-flag. Also, you're right about the Newark Benfica celebration last year: it was the 1st time in 11 years I saw them out there; Porto's wins and celebrations over the years have become so common and trivial that we ran out of things to celebrate!
I see where you're going with this. If you were present 2 years ago in Ferry st. during the celebrations of Portistas and the CL, you will recall that they were cut short by the great Newark Police force which even ended in some arrests. The celebration was peaceful, there were no problems whatsoever until the police just acted on orders from Mayor Sharpe James to not allow the blowing of horns, people hanging outside the windows of their cars etc... etc... Granted it disrupted the celebration and people started dispersing as per Police orders. I for one think Sharpe James is a Benfiquista!
