That was a few years ago....Little Rock, Arkansas IIRC is now the most obese city in the USA.

and just fyi....Chapulin isn't trolling.....you're a moderator and you don't even know what trolling is?? That's messed up... :D :D

Why are you telling him to change his team if yours isn't even changed?? mine isn't either....I'm not trolling (saying anything derogatory about Houston in any way and I'm a Chivas fan) I hope Houston does well and I actually plan on going to as many games as I possibly can but when CDCUSA comes to town I'll have to wear my Chivas jersey...sorry....but when it's Houston vs anyone else...I'll go for Houston.

That's funny! Your the first GA Chivas fan in Texas that I think gives a rats*** about Chivas USA. Most of them say its total BS, just a way to get the Mexico team more pub and to play with Veraga's ego.

while I still favor ASC Houston/Apollo Houston, I am appalled nobody has mentioned this beauty: Houston Fighting Armadillos

a reference to the immortal "Necessary Roughness," if you missed it ... a fictional Texas State Fighting Armadillos football team.

also, we could put our own spin on "Rovers" by becoming the Houston Ropers.

I didn't neg-rep you, though obviously someone else thought you deserved it.
I thought my post was sufficient.
In fact, I just checked your original idiotic post. If so inclined, I can still rep you on that post (whch I couldn't do if I had already dinged you there).

Come on everyone, let's get back on topic.

I wonder when they will finally let us vote on a name. They need to be designing the kits and ads with the name, so it should be pretty soon.

I would have hoped for something quick. I wish that I could get a jersey for Christmas.

I was wondering the same thing. I keep visiting the Houston MLS website in hopes of seeing the contest up and running. I really don't know what is taking so long though. I would have thought they would want to get the name and jersey out ASAP for Christmas. The odds of that happening are zero now. So much for easy shopping on MLSnet.

I can only imagine one reason why MLS is taking so long. I have heard that designs are already in progress for Houston MLS. Maybe, AEG is waiting for all designs to be complete before putting them up for vote. This could be what the delay is. By designs, I mean a specific name will already be associated with a crest and colors when we vote on MLSnet. There will probably be three names or so.

That's just my take on the delay, lets hope voting will be up soon.

i've seen "Lone Star Houston" or variations a few times and am digging the name more and more.

an obvious nickname would be "stars" or "estrellas" for our spanish speaking fans.

    1st Houston Republic/Republica "best fit"
    2nd Lone Star Houston
3rd General Houston "growing on me"
    4th Inter Houston*
    5th Houston Rovers*

    * I do not like these as much as the top 3

I like the shield, I like the name, but if they are really going with Mustard Yellow and Baby Blue as colors they will be quite easy to make fun of.

The fact that the team is going to claim Houston as a town is sufficient reason to make fun of them... :D

    Interesting.

People really should check out that link. Looks pretty real.

I like Republic in concept, but thought it would be a problem to have a team that would be nicknamed "Republicans". Despite what people think in other parts of the country, the city of Houston is very heavily Democratic. But it looks like they're trying to position "Ravens" as the nickname (see "Cherokee word for Raven" in the lower left.

Dunno. Can't say I'm really impressed, but who knows.

Did they ever say their would be a vote. I heard them say a " name the team contest". That could easily be something where people submit names and then they draw a winner from the entries that had the name that was chosen.

I could be wrong. If someone has a link to something that says there will be a vote I'd like to see it.

If there was to be a vote, it would be totally a publicity stunt... Sadam Hussein held elections as well.
