Juan José Ruíz Jr. came on in the 86th minute for the Chiapas F.C. U17s who opened the Apertura with a 1-0 win against Veracruz today. He is a midfielder from Houston that was born 6/20/1997. Chiapas F.C. is the relocated San Luis.
Alonso Hernandez is on the bench for Monterrey's 2013 Apertura opener which starts at 6 eastern on Univision Deportes. Game thread
He is listed on the roster of Dorados de Sinaloa in the Ascenso MX. It looks like Dorados has affiliated with Club Tijuana. See Balerion's post here. Paul Arriola is also listed on the Dorados roster and not with the Club Tijuana first team or U20s. Dorados had their bye week in week one. Also, Alonso Hernandez was an unused sub last night.
Is he enough of a fringe youth nat, that he can sign with whatever club he chooses? If not, why is he training with the Sounders? This will be Conor Doyle 2.0, no?
Which means that, just like every other young player out of favor or out of contract this season, he will end up at DC United!
Who knows, perhaps he just knows some people and got into training with them. I don't think he's nearly good enough to demand anything from MLS, heck he might not even be good enough for MLS.
On the Mexican fed site, Joe Gallardo is listed on Monterrey's U17 squad for this year. As expected, Benji Joya, Daniel Cuevas, and Jose de la Tejera are listed on Santos' U20 squad, and Alan Cortinas and Uvaldo Luna are listed with Tigres' U20s.
Jose de la Tejera isn't American, is he? I realize you are probably listing him as an FYI for those wondering where he went -- but I also wanted to check if I am missing something.
His DA profile lists Nationality: United States Country of Citizenship:Mexico Tough to know what that means. http://ussda.demosphere.com/teams/37416866/37418016-37416960/41301374.html
I saw that with another player recently who was listed as having American nationality and Venezuelan citizenship, but who has played for Puerto Rico. Good times.
From the midweek round of the Copa MX: -Emilio Garcia (a 94 midfielder) scored Pachuca's goal today going the distance in a 1-0 home win against Lobos BUAP in the Copa MX. Other miscellaneous notes from Mexico: -Bernabe Magaña (a '93) was in goal on Sunday as the Pumas U-20s opened the 2013 Apertura with a 2-1 win against Puebla. During the 2013 Clausura he made 6 starts for a 4th tier affiliate and 2 starts for the Chivas U20s. He was sent off in one of the Chivas U20s games. -As noted by elosoperesosolatino here (with stats) Branco Rodriguez Ramirez (a '95 mifielder) is on the squad of the Cruz Azul U20s.
Ocegueda signs with Chivas and that means he won't be able to accept a US callup. Best of luck to him. http://www.chivascampeon.com/noticia/19656/
Dude's got about two and half years before that really matters anyway. Personally, for his career, I think he made the right choice.
Geez. Wasn't too long ago, he was another touted prospect for the U-20's because he was a "pro" overseas.
