Only downside: if we don't pick things up a bit next year, SKC will likely pass us to take 2nd for themselves... :-(
This is all kinds of awesome and reason why we expect so much from this team. Success is our tradition.
The current all-time points difference between The Massive & The Gals is only a mere (887-796=) 93 points. The Crew will be able to catch-up with them within half a decade, should they FINISH ABOUT 20+ POINTS AHEAD of L.A. Galaxy for just 5-STRAIGHT SEASONS. Not a tall order at all, right?
Too easy. LA will be the DC of next year. With a 34 game schedule and GBS as coach we will get between 100 and 102 points. I'm optimistic that you can do the math from here.
I can't guarantee LA will always be this year's DC. With GBS in charge, a bad season is 90 points so, yeah, 3 years it will be commanding.
Ender's Game opens this weekend.... It's been a long wait. I read the original story in Analog many, many years ago (i was still an undergrad) and thought it would make a great movie then. Hope they didn't ruin it.
Reviews seem very positive, the kid playing Ender getting very positive reviews. I might go see it and Bad Grandpa this week.
1977. But it *feels* that long ago some days.... Don't have it any more as I donated most of my SF collection to my alma mater's library--we had one of the first academic SF writers--William Tenn (I really should have taken a class from him, but was only at that campus for 5 quarters for many reasons, and chemistry was a heavy load). They are trying to build an SF/Fantasy collection.
Indeed. With their financial muscles, it's more of a challenge for the Gals to finish 20+ points behind the Crew for 5 straight seasons. Historically speaking, the Gals have finished behind the Crew in 5 out of 18 seasons: 2003: The Gals were 2 points behind the Crew (36 vs 38) 2004: 6 points behind (43 vs 49; Crew won the SS) 2007: 3 points (34: 37; both missed playoffs) 2008: 24 points (33: 57; Crew won the SS) 2009: 1 point (48: 49; Crew retained the SS) Hence, the longest run of L.A. bashing was 3-straight seasons, and only on 1 occasion did the points difference went beyond single digit. But WE are just too MASSIVE to be DISMISSIVE of this challenge... Bring it on!!
Seattle is losing at home to Portland in the playoffs. That's a positive, yes? Maybe Sigi will come back?
By losing the last 3 matches, the Crew secured the fourth worst record in the league, meaning a higher draft pick and (maybe more importantly these days?) allocation order for next season. At least we didn't lose one or two draft/allocation spots and still miss out on the playoffs like Chicago or San Jose... Maybe we'll get a GA contract that actually pans out this time...
We are, essentially--they are called Homegrown Players. I'll take some of the ones we got over a GA player.
Here's something to feel good about; Ohio Dominican are GLIAC champs in soccer. They're first in the NCAA D2 Midwest region and #19 in the nation. Looking forward to the GLIAC tournament and the NCAA's.
