1. AS Roma 18 2. Napoli 16 3. Juventus 16 4. Inter 14 5. Fiorentina 10 The game against Inter will be very difficult. I can see us drop points for the first time this season. They have an organized team and strong defense with Mazzarri. I bet they will play on the counter. Some people consider this game to be the first real test for Roma. 18 points out of 6 wins. 17 goals scored and only 1 goal conceded.
This game is winnable. Fiorentina play a somewhat similar style to ours, and they dominated Inter for a large chunk of their game. And that was with them missing half their starters
For a moment there i got scared. Because of your avatar change @Andreas19 I thought someone else created the match day thread. Phew
Going to be an excellent game no doubt. When Roma wins this they will put the doubters to shame. They have been playing phenomenal, DAJE ROMA!!
We usually do very well against Inter at the San Siro (even on a bad run) so I can't honestly see us losing here especially in the form we're in.
Last 10 games against Inter we won 5, drew 3 and only lost 2. We haven't lost to them in 6 games. Laws of average in their favor, I am afraid.
As much as I'm looking forward to this match (we typically do well against Inter merda), January 6th is the match that has me salivating in anticipation at the moment...
I think only the derbies are the matchups where the law of averages come into play. Typically, the better team gets the result in our matchups vs. Inter. Frankly, I'd be happy with a draw against Inter. It's an away fixture against a top table team, but I think our ability to stay compact and spring a lot of attacks using the speed of some of our players is something that will cause problems all year. Ranocchia is clumsy, and Juan Jesus is nothing special. If we can isolate CB's on Gervinho, we're going to be in good shape all year. Alvarez and Nagatomo are the guys we need to clamp down on. I think DDR should be able to limit Alvarez.
I really rate Juan Jesus. He's the one defender we have to try and avoid, but has he been playing poorly? Last season he bossed any match ups against us and ate up Lamela
Juan Jesus is a good defender. He just makes some stupid decisions on occasion. Like that PK he gave up against Fiorentina.
I mean, any CB can be isolated and exposed because they're typically cleaning things up, and, if your CB is facing a lot of 1v1's your team is doing something wrong, but if we can get in behind the DM's, I like our chances running right at Juan Jesus and Ranocchia. We've been good at releasing on the counter and leaving forwards 1v1, particularly in the last few games. I'm not saying he sucks, and he's young, so there will be improvement, but I think he's overrated to date. Having said that, he'll play lights out against us now.
