Japan and IOC can go Fukushima themselves. Some speech is worth it.

Forced to leave the Olympics bc the the US Olympic delegation refused to reprimand them. Got their medals. The then IOC president and Nazi sympathizer Fface Avery Brundage claimed this was against "Olympic Spirit" while he had no problems with the Nazi salute in 1936 when he was part of the US Olympic Committee.

Aussie boxer Damien Hooper, who has aboriginal roots, wore this t-shirt with Australian Aboriginal Flag and was threatened by the IOC to make an apology. FU IOC.

I like this thread. PJW will never have to buy another meal as long as he lives.

I'm a old fart, jaded with life, so take my comments with a grain of salt... ;)

...but, calling Park a hero is a stretch. Everyone knows the IOC's rules on political statements. While you and I may believe that Park's opinions are statements of fact, it is a political statement, nevertheless. The IOC cannot say, "OK, we'll allow truthful political statements." They have to take a stand that all political statements are not allowed. Otherwise, the Olympic games have the potential to become a platform for all kinds of political agendas, rather than a celebration of oneness of humanity, sportsmanship and sporting achievement.

That said, I hope Park gets his medal, because he deserves it. But, you know the IOC will make him squirm, to discourage others from doing similar things in the future.

Being politically motivated to bow their heads and cover the Japanese flag and pulling the wreath over the eyes was technically violating the "Olympic Spirit" I suppose.

Why close this thread? Unless it dissolved into a big argument that can be done through pm, there is no point to close the thread.
PJW's action should be discussed whether good or bad.

I'm sure these women are going to be threatened with having their Olympic records expunged since they're wearing modified hijabs which are religious in nature and hence violation of the "Olympic Spirit". Hijabs are definitely falls under religious expression.

It's a pointless thread because melon's already done us a favour and made the K v J post match thread. No need to make another, when this topic has already been heavily discussed.

I know it may sound harsh in and of itself but in consideration of Hyok's long track record in Korea, Japan issues... yes.
