It's completely irrelevant to the thread, unless you think this particular foul is worthy of being looked at by the DisCo and / or worthy of a suspension. And if you do think it's worthy of a suspension, then I suggest laying off the illicit substances for awhile.
I don't think Magee was throwing the ball AT the referee. I think he was throwing the ball away because he was pissed about the call, and made sure to do it right in the referee's face so that he got the message. It's not the same as Shea's action. What Magee did was, well... pretty much what the DisCom described it as: Aggravated dissent. It's arguing a call, and it's delaying a restart. I'm guessing they asked the referee what he saw on that play before issuing this punishment. I'm guessing they asked "Hey, do you think he was trying to hit you and missed? Or do you think he was just blowing off steam and you happened to be right there?"
Watching the video, it appears Magee is not looking at the ref when he throws the ball away. The ref appears to be walking into the path of the ball. The yellow seems appropriate. If the ref (petrescue?) had thought it was directed at him, he would have ejected Magee. Petrescue is very good at anticipating incendiary events. You often see him getting in front of a Player to shield him from another.
If it's true that Busch threw a ball into the stands hard enough to hurt someone, then a 3-game suspension sounds appropriate. If he also attempted to hit a ball kid, then 3 more games should be added. There is no excuse for either action.
I could be wrong, but, I find it hard to believe that they are still reviewing the incidents, more than likely it looks like the Disciplinary Committee concluded it was just a case of a SKC fan having sand in his vagina.
No, because when comparing someone to one set of non-white males becomes uncool ("thats so gay"), the insults shift to a different demographic ("his vagina"). But you knew that, and were just going for snark, further reinforcing my point. Thanks for playing.
. . . delaying a restart at the end of a game where his own team was the one needing time to catch up. The DisCom should still issue a suspension, but describe the reason as "Stupidity."
And Andy is right - that sort of phrase is not one that ought to be used as an insult here. Unlike pro soccer players who supposedly need to have thick skins to endure all manner of insults, posters herein do not. That goes doubly for insults targeted at particular posters which have the added "bonus" of impacting other posters of a particular race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. This sort of preclusion still leaves all sorts of room for banter.
That goes without saying.. You don't attend Wazzu for the book education. You attend for the beer education.
Ha! You mean the "path" of the ball thrown by a player who disagreed vehemently with his call? There is no right-of-way "path" of the ball--the REF is walking and can walk wherever he DAMN WELL pleases, and the "path" you mention is Magee's violent dissent, and if that ball is one foot to the right and smacks Petrescu in the head, Magee's out more games than Clark-on-Ruiz and you've got a worldwide viral video. Everything you say is wrong--the assumption that Magee has any right to throw the ball to begin with being the start of it. Recklessness--with or without intentionality--is absolutely a red-cardable offense. If that ball is one foot to the right, Magee's out ten games.
It's been a BigSoccer staple for years and now you have a problem with it? Ok, I promise not to use it anymore.
