Inonu Stadium

Inonu Stadium (Inonu) is the home of Besiktas JK. It is located in the Dolmabahce part of Istanbul, Turkey on the European side. The stadium has a capacity of 32,145.

The stadium was built in 1947 and opened on May, 19, 1947. It was designed by Vietti Violi, Sinasi Sahingiray, and Fazıl Aysu. The first match was played on November 27, 1947 between Besiktas and Swedish team AIK Solna. The first goal was scored by Besiktas player Suleyman Seba. AIK Solna ended up winning the match 3-2.

In 1952, the stadium's name was changed to Mithatpasa Stadium. It was later changed back to Inonu Stadium in 1973.

According to Pelé, the stadium has the most beautiful view of any stadium in the world. While watching a match in this stadium, one can see Bosphorus, Dolmabahçe Palace, the Historical Clock Tower of Dolmabahce Palace and Kiz Kulesi.

The stadium is nicknamed after Turkish statesman Ismet Inonu.

The stadium has also been used by Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and the Turkish National Team.
