This article describes two different ways to create a new article. There are also some suggestons on how to name an article.

Creating a new article

Method one - follow a wikilink
One way to create a new article is to follow a red wikilink from another article. That's really simple if the link already exists.

If the wikilink doesn't already exist, then you have to create it. You do this by editing an existing article and enclosing the article title in double brackets ( and ). For example: new article will create a link to a page named 'New article' (the first letter of the article title will automatically be capitalized).

Method two - use the search function
An alternative way of creating a new article is to use the search function. Enter "new article" in the search box and click on "Go". If the article doesn't already exist, you'll be given the option to "create this page" (the page will be named 'New article' because, as we've said, the wiki software automatically capitalizes the first letter of an article title).

Naming a new article

The new article should be named in a way that makes it easy for others to find and link to. Choose an article title based on what people actually say and what they are likely to search for.

Capitalization

Don't capitalize anything in an article title (except those things that are always capitalized, such as proper nouns).

Not capitalizing article titles is counter-intuitive but there's a good reason for it. It has to do with the way wikilinks work: except for the first letter, links to articles are case sensitive.

Not capitalizing article titles makes it possible to create a wikilink without having to use a pipe. For example, an article entitled "Red card" could be linked from the text of another article by simply enclosing the phrase "red card" in double brackets: "the player got a red card" (the software automatically capitalizes the first letter). To link to an article entitled "Red Card", you'd have to use a pipe: "the player got a red card".

Proper nouns should be capitalized. "Ataturk Olympic Stadium" should be capitalized because it's a proper noun.
