Look I like Fletcher, well rounded central mid who can defend and pass. But to suggest that he could make a difference against that Barca midfield is wrong. They're just too good and he wouldn't have made a difference imo. You can't just take Xavi/Iniesta out of the game thanks to Darren Fletcher of all. They will improvise around it if need bee.

Just like Fabregas and co. did in the semi-final...oh wait.

Like I said in my original post, he wouldn't have completely shut down Xavi & Iniesta, but he would have made it significantly more difficult for them to dominate as much as they did that night.

Is this a joke ? You're comparing Barca ( strongest club side in world football) to the Arshavinless Arsenal of last year which United handled ?

Although recently they have had unclinical strikers, a very dodgy defence and a midfield lacking in any aggression, Arsenal teams have always been good at one thing (in recent years). Keeping the ball in midfield, with short, Barcelona like passes. But in those two semi finals Fletcher and co. stopped them playing anything approaching that kind of football. It is naive to think he wouldn't have had at least some affect on that very similar Barca midfield.

He certainly would have made it harder, well then again, any additional CM would have made it harder by definition, and I doubt it would have made a significant difference. the game wasn't lost in midfield, Barca has dominated every midfield in the CL, it was lost due to defensive lapses.

united may not have had fletcher (whom i have claimed underrated for years now) but barca had a practically their whole backline out and Iniesta playing on an injury, so you cant use the fletcher arguement without including barca's situation.

yup, toure at CB, busquets at DM, and Sylvinho at LB, and even Puyol was on the right.

Hey imagine if ManU started Johnny Evans and Carrick at CB against Messi & Co. Man, I actually giggled thinking about that.

Ibra is slower than ronaldo but i agree with some saying that ibra is better at creating space. but ronaldo still surpasses ibra in almost everything. but both are class players all the way!!!!!

Ibra seems to be a much better passer. That is a huge part of the game.

So he has no part in Portugal choking especially considering he missed quit a few clear chances he normally puts away?

Ibra notched in a sweet game opener today against Atletico Madrid, the game ended 5-2 in favor of Barcelona, for those of you who were hiding in a cave, Messi slotted in a brace of his own. They sure look strong this Barca team, even stronger then last year in my honest opinion.

Ibra has the better dribble for sure , Ronaldo's dribble is very overrated because he rarely actually goes around players with it. He usually stops and goes laterally or stops and goes back against the better defenders. I also think Ibra has better touch and more creativity. Ronaldo has a decent free kick in his favour and an incredible amount of self belief.

I watched Ronaldo for real madrid the other day and actually saw him dribble around a player ,which is what i thought would happen in the spanish league, because it's not as intense as the premiership.

    Dribble: same
    Shooting: same
    Ball control: Ibra
    Freekkick: CR9
    Header: CR9
    Short pass: Ibra
    cross: CR9
    long pass: same
    Athleticism: same
    Vision: Ibra
    Team work: Ibra
    Speed: CR9

in all, I rate them EQUAL in skillset.

But so far CR9 has been more effective on pitch than Ibra so overall: CR9 of course is now a better player.

Id say Ibra is a better dribbler and passer than CR, but CR is no doubt the better shooter.
