Well, Sal Zizzo may not be the next Zizou, but he's not the current ZIZ-oh either. From the U20 Blog at ussoccer.com:

    Sunday, July 8 @ 12:45 p.m.
Watching the game against Brazil and there’s something we’d like everyone to know – how to correctly pronounce Sal Zizzo’s last name. For the record, it’s pronounced ZEE-zoh, not ZIZ-oh. Now, we don’t blame the announcers who have been getting it wrong as even some of his closest friends were in the dark. While we were in Venezuela, former UCLA teammate Benny Feilhaber was singing the praises of Sal while watching the Poland highlights, saying, “How good is ZIZ-oh.” We told him it was ZEE-zoh, but he didn’t exactly believe because, he said, everyone at school called him ZIZ-oh. Sal told us he just doesn’t really correct anyone, so everyone jus assumes it’s ZIZ-oh. Well, since Sal won’t be it, we’ll do it for him. From this day forth, let it be known that it is ZEE-zoh.

I am very much impressed by his WC games...now, from what I've gathered, Zizzo is still in college. Does that mean that any club can sign him without paying anyone any cash...other than MLS draft, of course?

Soccer is one of the greatest games for capitalism - you are a free agent until you sign with a team. MLS is the only league with a draft. Other sports are similar, it's just that we are accustomed to thinking of the NBA as "basketball" since the best basketball all want to play in the top league.

Actually, since Zizzo is an Italian name, the proper way to pronounce it would be more like

    Zeet-tsoh.

Double Z in Italian has a T sound in front of it, as in the word pizza.

In that case, may Sal pop a round white head ball into the Austrian goal.

But if he ends up getting the dream transfer to Italy that he's been hoping for you can bet that his teammates, TV announcers and everyone else in the country will be pronouncing it:

    ZEET-zo

Z to tha Izzo, Sal to tha Zizzo thats the anthem get ya darn hands up.

Zee-zoh doesn't flow right, but Sal Zizzo does. It's like one word Salzizzo.
