Can anyone translate the teams for me?

I take it with more teams that there wasn't any relegation last year then?

    No 1 is relegated.
You can just look at the previous teams played in last edition plus adding two more which is Tawoon and Faisaly.

So last years league campaign can generally be claimed as the most pointless in recent history.

The championship was over before it began.

The most interesting thing for myself was the fight to avoid relegation and when that was all over, the Saudi FA announced that no one would eb relegated anyway. So a big anti-climax. Who's to say this won't happen next season, or more sides are relegated, or possibly a Saudi FA favorite is put in a relegation playoff rather than straight relegation.

I know the league has expanded following AFC criteria, but there is a way to go round it.

I really wished they dropped the bottom two teams and then promoted the top 4 from the first division but oh well.

Here's the first round of matches:

    Al Shababx Raed
    Najranx Al Nasr
    Al Ittihad x Al Ittifaq
    Fateh x Al Qadisiya
    Al Hilal x Taywoon
    Al Wehda x Al Fiysali
    Al Ahli x Al Hazm

Good thing my Wehda is getting a somehwat easy match at home for the first round :)

They will be hoping that a prolonged ACL campaign keeps him at the helm for a longer stint that keeps them in the title hunt.

Morocco, were Gerets will go could will have played two African Nation Cup qualifier matches by then. If they are struggling for instance and Hilal are flying high, would there be a possibility that Gerets will u-turn?

Anyone got any views on the opening weekend?

I don't know too much about football in the Kingdom, but i'm surprised at the Wehda - Faisly draw. The away win for Raed does seem to be an impressive result.

It is far better and to be the best league Saudi football fans have ever seen.
More European players more excitment.Talking about Faysaly and Wehda draw it seemed Faysaly deserved to win.Being a promoted club they have three european imports and playing fantastically

Best Saudi league ever is over the top, but I think we've had a decent start this year. All the matches were well contested and we've already had an upset. the quality of the football as ever was variable though.

It may be a bit early to say it, but it looks like the small teams this year might be capable of standing up to the big teams and give them a game.

Pleased enough with Ittihad's game. Some good football when they concentrate although as usual they switch off for spells and everything grinds to a halt. The two portuguese players looked good, in particular the right back Paolo Jorge. Hope we can keep it together, as the civil war intensifies.

The neighbours also looked good. They've assembled a really good team over the last two years, they might be this season's dark horse if they can man up and fight. Look at the offensive players they have: Mo'ath, Jizawi, Wanderson, Raheb, Hosani plus a good a midfield. I will keep an eye on them.

    Outstanding post Hijazeyy..
Talkin about Noor problem ..I am really fed up with his attitude. Some times I beleive he should probably retire and sit home. Moreover through some sources many Ittihad platers are unhappy with new coach due to his training methods.I can also smell he wont stay for long with our club..
