so he was making like 1.5 million euros. Could he be on less than a million a year for RSL? I doubt he'd be getting 2. maybe somewhere in the middle?
Found a beauty here at Championat. (I might as well translate) ------------------------------- "Spartak" Moscow forward Yura Movsisyan was a subject of interest by Galatasaray but refused the potential transfer to the Turkish club, writes Fotospor. According to sources, "Spartak" agreed to the transfer of the Baku born Armenian to Gala but Movsisyan declined it due to the complicated relations between Armenia and Turkey and due to threats to life and limb received from the Armenian nationalists. --------------------------------- so, it seems like Galatasaray first contacted the Armenian nationalists, then "Spartak", then Yura. (I kid). For those who need a political primer, contact Wikipedia directly. ------------------------------ the original Russian text below
I am happy to announce my return to MLS and my former team Real Salt Lake who I won the cup with back in '09.My... https://t.co/QltxC4qXJo— Yura Movsisyan (@YuraMovsisyan) January 15, 2016
Looks like it's a loan: Real Salt Lake makes the Movsisyan move official. One-year loan pending receipt of ITC from Russian Federation: https://t.co/8wJMwmzTob— Chris Kamrani (@chriskamrani) January 15, 2016
Certainly it's possible that Armenia won't call him as often, but it depends on how well he does at RSL.
I doubt it. He's Armenia's best forward by far (Mkhtaryan is a midfielder). And, in any case, this is only a loan. Fedun must be hoping that oil goes back up to $60 and he can afford a full roster.
He's apparently their 3rd highest goalscorer with 10 goals. 6 behind their record goalscorer. Certaintly possible. Hopefully they get a good shot for Euro 2020. With 24 teams it's their best chance ever.
Not a jot. The Armenian League is terrible, barely even NASL standard, but half their squad comes from the domestic league, and most of the rest are bench warmers for Russian mid-table sides. They've called up a player from Dutch D2 for a Euro 2016 qualifier for goodness sake (it was his 8th cap). A starting striker for a playoff-quality MLS side is better than any - make that ANY - other options available to them,
Not the most favorable review of Yura's career in Moscow. This says he started at €1.5M, then raised to €2.2M. The agent fees of €2M is probably a scam. His Armenian/Spartak teammate Aras Ozbiliz did transfer to Turkey, to Besiktas. Russians are stunned.

how much was he making at Moscow compared to RSL? I can't imagine him getting less than a million here
According to the latest salary report, he's making $200k at RSL. https://www.mlsplayers.org/images/May 15, 2016 Salary Information - Alphabetical.pdf
And also was loathe to continue living in Russia, which you can't blame him for. That's in spite of being from Armenia originally. Yet some begrudge Americans for not considering the Eastern bloc as a viable path to decent football in Europe. You have to weigh in quality of life, happiness, as Yura did. Got paid for a few years, with that not being a springboard to football anywhere else in Europe, then got out, at least for the time being.
Armenians are Christian and are generally aligned with Slavs (Russia and Belarus) and against the Muslims (the Turks and the Azeris). But there are plenty of all of the above - and Georgians - in Moscow. And, as a side note, the exodus of well paid foreign players from the RPL continues. Zenit just sold Hulk and will probably sell Witsel. The league is bleeding millions, if not hundreds of millions. They will turn to the locally raised players - the matches will now be easier to fix too - and might even turn to another Russian coach to run the national team. Leonid Slutsky, a jovial fellow that he is, wasn't jovial enough to keep the Russian Euro fans entertained. Despite many of them being on the payroll.
Has he finally become a US citizen? Chicago listed him as such in his most recent move: https://www.chicago-fire.com/post/2018/09/14/chicago-fire-acquire-forward-yura-movsisyan Name: Yura Movsisyan Position: Forward Height: 6’1” Weight: 177 lbs. Date of Birth: Aug. 2, 1987 Birthplace: Baku, Azerbaijan Citizenship: United States of America Last Club: Real Salt Lake And then there is this in a story: Nowadays he holds the American citizenship and speaks perfect English after receiving tutoring sessions courtesy of Dr Dre, Tupac and Snoop Dogg. What a story! https://www.xtremfootball.tv/kung-fut/refugee-mls-star-yura-movsisyan/ Of course, plenty of people confuse a Green Card with US citizenship. And, as far as MLS is concerned, a Green Card is as good as US citizenship, so mistakes are possible. Even his Wikipedia article says he's a citizen, but references articles as long ago as 2012 to prove it. He's only been back in the US since January 2016, so that's a bit tight to get in the 3 years of residency he needed, though he would probably only need the 18 months of physical presence needed since he could probably show his residence with his family left behind in the US. I would like a little confirmation before going all in.
