His game reminds me a lot of Pulisic, but the dribbling is to a lesser magnitude. He might have better end product than Pulisic. Otherwise, a similar player.
I'd recommend this thread, which links to a very smart story, to anyone interested in the Mexican-American soccer story. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/lets-talk-about-young-yanks-in-mexico.2087076/

This page has turned into the Konrad thread. @bshredder, do you have any idea why he has yet to receive any U-20 call ups this cycle? Tab doesn't rate him as good enough to play up a cycle, something to do with Barcelona not releasing him or is he considering switching to Spain or Haiti?
Could the conclusion involve FCB not valuing youth national team camp experience? I've always just assumed that they frowned upon releasing players from their grasp for what they see as an inferior experience. They seem to require an intense level of commitment from their academy players and let it be known that they expect them to be around or risk the chance of losing their spot. Just a hunch, but that seems much more plausible than him not being called in because he's not rated highly.
I know y'all want Konrad called up, but I don't see the hurry. I mean, Barca has developed a boatload of world class talent. The USYNT's have developed... Pulisic. Which environment would you rather the kid be in? He'll play for the US soon enough. But I don't see a need to rush anything or call him up just to call him up. Just as long as we're keeping in contact with him on the regular, then I think he, and American soccer, are better off if he stays with Barca than comes and trains with whomever is leading the 18s right now.
Calling him up for a youth team camp won't damage him for week. National team camps don't 'develop' players. Barca still does that. Calling a top prospect keeps the relationship going and tells him we're interested and a good place for him.
U-20, not U-18. U-20 has World Cup Qualifying coming up. I think most believe he deserves a spot on that team.
It's reasonable to suspect that U.S. Soccer's relationship with a player like Konrad has some uncommon elements to it given who and where he is. I guess we all might like to know what they are, but until we do we're only guessing.
An '01: Internacional’s u-17 attacker João Lucas, who was born in New Jersey, has been approached by US Soccer to consider representing the US internationally: https://t.co/2gCedbYu2t— Austin Miller (@austin_james906) September 25, 2018
Is it my imagination but does it seem like we haven't been seeing these kind of reports outside of what Tab Ramos has done. Reports of young ex-pats being approached by people other than Tab; assuming Tab is not approaching U-17 Brazil players.
He's youth technical director, as well as a YNT coach, and a pretty accomplished player to boot, meaning a guy and his family might appreciate hearing from him. It's not to say other coaches and officials might not also do this, but it doesn't seem crazy that Tab could be useful in a recruiter-type role.
Sorry, I meant that it seemed Ramos was out doing this all on his own the past 18 months. And I understand he is YTD, whatever that means, but I doubt approaching every dual national over 12 is his job alone. I think it is a change that a U17 player has been contacted. That someone else in USSF other than the U20 coach looking for German-American U20 players has been heard about.

SKC has certainly cast the net very wide. They might be single handedly destroying the HG territory rule. As the 18 yr olds have gone to Europe, the trend now is for MLS to sign 15 yr olds. The trend is not towards dis-investment. At least with Seattle and SKC. The other nice part of having MLS sign 15 yr olds rather than get to wait until they are 18-22, is that even if these kids sign the horrible 3+2 deal, they are free at 19-20. In fact, it will put a lot of pressure on the MLS team to develop them and sell them on at 18.
