Youth World Cup Announcer on ESPNU

    Who is the announcer? Why can't espn get him on a regular basis. He sounds far superior to the typical announcing crew that we get stuck with.

    The broadcast isn't ESPN's, right ?
    Therefore, the announcer isn't theirs either?

    It's the FIFA english feed.

    Yep .. And the same announcer did the last U-17 for FIFA also..

    The person who did USA/Brazil last night was Steve Banyard, who also does EPL and English FA games.

    I couldn't hear him except as a barely audible murmur under crowd noise. Anyone else have this problem?

    Yes, Nancy. Very poor audio mix during Friday's game.

    In the first half, it was better in the second half, for me anyway.

    I didn't care for him. Too quiet for the most part. Granted I can actually see the screen so I don't need an announcer. What I want an announcer for is to give me a little background on the players. Club ball, college, etc.

    I find it funny people aren't ripping on him for the useless junk he was talking about like Dax McCarty's dad's being a fighter pilot and the general fellation he was doing on Pato.
