i think with a competent coach such as emery or ancelotti, we could fight for CL spots with few changes. (assuming everyone stays healthy and doesn't completely underperform, big if!)
    ------------diego lopez-------
    antonelli-ogbonna-vlaar-abate
    -------de jong----song--------
    ---cerci/niang--honda/monty----SES
    -------immobile/lukaku

sure ogbonna, vlaar, song, keeping de jong, getting immobile/lukaku would be expensive. but this could be offset some with the departure of menez, mexes, (bonera!). and hey chinese investors should be able to afford anything

fair enough, i was trying to make a decently competitive team with little changes to the line up. now think about it, what was our biggest issue this year? giving up leads because our defense couldn't keep the other team from scoring. ogbonna is surplus to juve and is considered a flop by many of their fans, but he is a good defender and i think wort the risk. he'll be much better than our CBs. vlaar is a great defender and i think underrated. i would hope he'd prefer to play for milan than aston villa. those two should make our defense instantly better. Priority #1 is improved.

now priority #2 is the midfield. de jong was not the problem and we are already rumored to be in talks with song, who i believe is a great player. with song on the team, the mid won't be giving the ball away so cheaply and will help the defense.

priority #3 is the offense. the 4-3-3, i think never suited the team. and with de jong and song, we should have defense cover, where we should be able to have more offensive bodies on the field and have the 4-2-3-1. in this scenario honda can play where he actually performs well, in the hole. montolivo i think also plays well in the #10 position, he did it great in the euros. niang is playing great elsewhere and it SES regains fitness AND stays healthy they should be able to provide any forward with a decent amount of service. Immobile and Lukaku though not great forwards are already an improvement over torres/pazzini/destro.

this team is not great, but it's better and i think could be competitive and fight for a top 3 spot. it would at least show management is making smart decisions that make sense

Reports are saying that miha wants to use SES in a "di maria" role in a left central role in midfield....interesting. I think it could work but every player is different. If it pans out I think a SES, de jong, bertolacci midfield could be pretty good. Monty and Bonaventura are decent bench players for the mid...

Nocerino, Mexes, Bertolacci in mid, you have an attacking mid, a defensive mid, and a runner. Bring Ibra along to make these plugs good

Only serious about Bertolacci. Ibra made Nocerino good before, and he could make Mexes a good CM if he could make KBP the box to box of 2011
