I watched the Villa-WHam game today. I highly recommend that all LFC fans watch games between teams like them now and then -- both of them were absolutely god-awful. it was a great reminder of how truly excellent our football is on a week-in week-out basis.
I was kidding about the thread, in case anyone didn't realize that. On another note, a funny meme based on my avatar that those of you who have watched The Boys on Amazon will appreciate...
the upcoming schedule isn't very tough for them, either Prem or CL games ...... but if Fernandinho gets crocked (been known to happen) they will be screwed big time ...... If unavailable for six weeks, Stones will miss City’s first three Champions League group games. Guardiola’s side open their Group C campaign away to Shakhtar Donetsk tomorrow, before Dinamo Zagreb and Atalanta visit Manchester next month. Domestically, City face Premier League home matches against Watford, Wolvehampton Wanderers and Aston Villa during Stones’s layoff, as well as travelling away to Everton and Crystal Palace. City also play Preston North End away next week in the EFL Cup. Stones will target a home league meeting with Southampton on 2 November as a potential comeback. City play Atalanta at the San Siro four days later, with the trip to Anfield on the following weekend.
Watching Liverpool ( and MOTD) and the twenty or so other big games that might crop up during the year is good enough for me...
He's already complained that he won't be allowed to buy in January and will have to play on with his current players. Apparently citeh are scared of FFP and are trying to reign in spending.
At Old Trafford... what is up with them? I really haven't closely watched them, there's no way they should be this unimpressive.
I didn't see the match, so to be fair maybe they dominated and were unlucky. Watching the highlights, Fred (remember when he cost like 50M pounds?) clips the corner of teh goal in the 3rd minute... edit: okay, well... they probably could have scored 4 and played the kids. So it makes a little more sense.
Solanke had an assist taken away by VAR, but then not long after that Bmouth break again and Wilson slots home a cutback. Wouldn't mind him sticking around next summer, this is 2 quite productive seasons he's looking like having, making all the right kinds of progress. I do wonder if it's more likely he's sold for a solid fee to another prem side, though. Shampton have been very poor in this match.
Actually shaping up as Wilson's 3rd somewhat productive season, should it continue. 3rd goal in this young season today. Has he displaced Fraser? Was Fraser injured and I didn't realize it? He's on the bench, not sure if I missed the reason why.
Wilson has started the last two matches ahead of Fraser. Fraser did come off the bench to score against the butters last week.
I came across this comment from a Spurs fan (he writes a political column for the guardian) about their new stadium. it kinda shows the challenges clubs face when they go all-in on a "look at us!!" stadium vs expanding the existing facilities. the old-time fan's experience can take a real hit. "I’ve tried to love it, to embrace the increased capacity and the better facilities but I can’t help missing the old White Hart Lane. Even the rancid toilets. Watching football at the new ground reminds me of going to a baseball game in the US, where people wander in and out of their seats during play. It has become more of a tourist destination than a place of communion. Every game there are different people sitting next to me and I yearn for the faces I used to see week in, week out."
guardian on the VAR decision to disallow Spurs goal: VAR has decided that Son was 0.0000001 centimetres offside in the build-up
City look very vulnerable at the back early on. Unfortunately they lead 3-0 after 12 minutes. For once they have a weakness, but is anyone in this league even good enough to exploit it?
Turned on the Bayern game on FS1 to see what Coutinho is up to. Forgot how awful the atmosphere is over there. Non-stop drums. What sounds like the same inaudible chant over and over.
