Watford's defense should collectively turn down their paychecks this week. Embarrassing.

Well, we did let in 6 against an average Stoke side a few years ago, didn’t we? Yet, this Man City side is supposed to be in a defensive crisis!

Looks like the Lester player had his foot and arse 3 microns closer.
Son should keep his elbows in.

Just shows how silly this has become.

    Horrible.

But happy to see spurs lose. That said - it’s going to screw us again soon.

Geez, City played today like they could win the league on goal difference alone.

a week after Norwich embarrassed them, they beat the worst team in the league who - from what I read - gave up after about 10 minutes and kinda stopped chasing the ball.

That is neither clear nor obvious.
Are they reviewing EVERY goal for an infraction in the build up? How far back does the build up go - 30 seconds? 2 minutes? What if the scoring team possesses the ball for 4 minutes 12 seconds in a wonderful flowing move where every member of the team touches the ball at least twice but the striker was offside by this amount on the 4th pass of this move?

A travesty that this is given but 'clear and obvious' penalties like Matip being tackled (similar non-calls have been turned down by VAR despite being 100% penalties) are not being given.

This is the problem with VAR - at the end of the day, the decision to use/not use or grant/not grant rulings is dictated by fallible man. All that has happened is now we've taken decisions away from the fallible man on the field and granted the power to a fallible man in a video box 200km away following mandates made by silly and fallible men 400km away.

Goal line technology is wonderful because the ball either did or didn't cross the line, there is no judgment. I'm at the point where I'd be happy going back to this being the only technology used since there is no good way to implement VAR.

What a free kick by Cresswell. De Gea even got a hand on it but the curl put it away. Even the security guard behind the net got up and cheered!

There is no big 6 this season. Only a big 2. Leceister and West Ham should have their eyes on top 4.

VAR for offside is essentially the same as goal line?

Why do people seem OK with goal line decisions being decided by 1cm but not offside??? o_O

Because the goal line technology is actual technology that is indisputable like what they use in tennis. These offsides calls involve drawing lines on paused tv screen. And we are also supposed to believe that they are pausing it at the precise moment when the ball is played.

delay: the offside rule exists for only one reason - to avoid attackers getting an unfair advantage. nobody sane could say that these microscopic offsides are giving an advantage to the attacker, and applying VAR that way is making a joke of the offside rule.

VAR is turning the offside rule on its head - it's now giving defenders an unfair advantage.

that's why so many ppl hate it, it's ridiculous.
