Scored his first two goals yesterday. He isn't outstanding regarding creativity but he is quite a physical specimen. Hopefully he gets better at scoring there in Brazil, he could be an option for the NT just because of his speed and strength.
Well, Juan Carlos Escobar, Roberto Polo, Eduis Viafara, Edixon Perea and Vlacho Marín have, so why not Yony. Sometimes speed and strength are needed to break a defense, so Right now I'm not gonna write any player out, not even Jhon Córdoba Who I don't like a bit.
I really liked the way he played at Junior. Not the most technical but he adds something different. With a new manager coming in with new tactics and a new playing style a guy like this can flourish. Who knows?
I was going to post about this guy today. Dude is killing it in Brazil. You guys think a selección call up is coming soon?
he is not better than anyone that is in the team today...............more similar to copete, berrio, luis quiñones or pipe pardo.......
The guy mainly plays wide right, but can play as a striker or on the left. Quieroz' system favors a player of his qualities, but it's created a bit of a log jam. James' new position seems to be on the right. Then we have Roger, Muriel, and Diaz mainly competing on the left, but all can play on the right, too. This isn't including Villa (RW) and possibly even Cucho or Chara (playing just as well in Brazil). And we can't forget about Cuadrado in that position yet. I wouldn't put him ahead of any of those first 4 guys right now. Even if he ends up one of the top scorers in Sudamericano, I'd like to see a lot more. Personally, should a spot open up, I'd rather give it to one of the up and comers: Benedetti, Quinones, Sinisterra, or Carrascal...
maybe if he becomes a 9, then he will be an option....but considering the technique of our actual wings and villa, carrascal, izquierdo, ibarguen, benedetti....it would be very difficult an spot for him... he wasnt abolsute starter in junior....
lol 100 if you count his match in Libertadores last night. He's far from starting for the NT, obviously. But I like the idea of bringing in the kids early and introducing them to the staff, squad, system. They did it with Johan Carbonero a month ago.
This is what I am thinking. As a #9 if he consistently continues to score he will get a chance this cycle. Maybe not get playing time but at least practice with the Seleccion in friendlies and get a look.
The guy may have a good chance of being called up soon just for the simple fact he is on fire this summer and the other #9 candidates will just be getting into some kind of early rhythm come September.
