I believe Namazi is still head coach for the 18s. Cassar is working with the U17s, I suppose as Hack's assistant. Great way to start 2018 working with USA U-17 boys National Team. Excited to work with these talented young men.— Jeff Cassar (@jeffcassar) January 2, 2018
Interesting take. With all that's going on, the following is prescient. Both Uly Llanez & Alex Mendez (dual nationals) weren't selected for the U17 world cup.Don't care what you think, but I'm telling you this is the best 2001 & 2000 in the country.— 3four3 (@3four3) January 8, 2018
US U18s drew US U19s. 18s led by @LAGalaxyAcademy winger Uly Llanez who had a PK for the 18s.— Joey (@USAprospects) January 9, 2018
Just absolute and utter radio silence from US Soccer (on any channel: their website, Twitter accounts, anything) about this camp. I don't get it. Maybe someone with more knowledge can enlighten us, but doesn't the USSF have media relations employees? Interns? The janitor who knows how to post photos to an Instagram account? Probably just another sign of the rudderless ship that is the USSF.
Thankfully USAprospects is at least providing some updates: US U18s starting XI vs. US U19s - Ochoa :: Ritchie : Araujo : Benalcazar : Hoffmann :: Booth : Duke : Palomino :: Llanez : Hawkins : Hategan. Very strong 2001 line-up. Llanez and Hategan with the goals.— Joey (@USAprospects) January 9, 2018
The U20s are mostly lady cycle' s U17s right? So the U19 team is generally older than the U20? Confusing
I replied to this on Twitter that Llanez should have gone and Gonzales souls have gone to Korea. Ullyses himself retweeted It! He has liked several pro-JoGo tweets to since he announced his switch. Afraid Llanez is getting ready to jump ship.
I am with you. Really don't understand the lack of anything from this camp. Even more simple - They listed the games. How about scores? Starting XI? Strange and misguided.
No. Everything has been reset with the start of the new cycle. The new U20s (99s/00s) are mostly the old U18s (99s) with some old U17s (00s) sprinkled in. The new U19s are 00s, the new U18s are 01s, the new U17s are 02s.
It's never been clearer that the USSF has a real communication problem. They've been weak on reporting basic facts and information in a timely manner about YNTs for a long time (especially when YNTs lose). There's the interpersonal communication failings we've just seen with Jonathan Gonzalez. And now the USSF is putting out a statement every day to try to refute or deflect some claim, whether it's Kyle Martino talking about the CR qualifier in NY or the press reporting about the status of the USSF scouting operation. If there was more transparency, there wouldn't be as much suspicion about everything.
Tweet from USAprospects: One name that consistently came up when discussing #usynt Summit was '01 Ian Hoffmann. Hoffmann has played in the center of midfield, in all 16 matches for Karlsruher U17s, scoring 3 times. For the US U18s Hoffmann's played as a RB in the last two camps and 'turned heads'— Joey (@USAprospects) January 10, 2018
Born and raised in Connecticut. I guess his parent(s) are German ex-pats? Looks like he has played for both USA and German Youth Teams. Looks like a battle is shaping up. Given his background, I wonder if we could get him even if Germany wanted him. Too bad Karlsruhrer isn't close to the Dortmund/Schalke hot bed of young Americans that hang out together. Seeing how the Federation is so great at recruiting dual-nationals these days, our best hope is he goes on Chipotle runs with Pulisic and McKennie...
