Figured I would start this after reading that '97 Alexis Velela signed with Cosmos B for 2018. https://www.frontrowsoccer.com/2018/03/20/adding-on-cosmos-b-signs-borrajo-velela-wojcik/ These threads generally do not produce so much action that both preseason and in-season threads are needed. Perhaps this one will prove me wrong! Here's last year's: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/yn...her-high-amateur-leagues-2017-thread.2038473/
Tyler Feeley '97, who played for Orange County SC and Saint Louis FC, is now with FC Arizona in the NPSL.
The PDL has released its first "Players to Watch" list, which includes '99 Griffin Dorsey as its #2. However, that appears to be an alphabetical ranking. (Other YNT-eligibles are also on the list.) https://www.uslpdl.com/news_article/show/914191
Mildly off-topic, perhaps, but the Brooklyn Italians knocked the Cosmos out of the USOC this weekend. One assumed the Cosmos, even playing a B team, had expected to make a much longer run in the tournament. Feels like a massive upset in Cup terms. https://www.brooklynitalians.org/single-post/2018/05/06/3-2-Win-over-the-NY-Cosmos http://www.nycosmos.com/news/2018/05/06/cosmos-b-comes-up-short-in-open-cup-defeat
The PDL's new Top Prospects list includes several thread-eligible players, including #1 Tate Schmitt, a '97. https://www.uslpdl.com/2018-top-prospects
Carlos Mercado of FC Dallas at 31.................interesting. Is that the '99? They have him listed as a forward, but that must the goalkeeper Carlos Mercado. He had both US and Mexican youth callups. I thought he had gone to the NCAAs with Incarnate Word in San Antonio. Just looked, and he's not listed on their roster.
Not Incarnate Word, UT-RGV. https://uiwcardinals.com/news/2018/2/16/uiw-mens-soccer-signs-six-for-2018.aspx?path=msoc

I just learned that Prpa is Andrija Novakovich's cousin. https://theathletic.com/364391/2018...ss-can-spring-from-the-dutch-second-division/
Apparently Andrija's side of the family was stole all the vowels. PS - they were almost teammates at Marquette.
The PDL has updated its list, but I'm too lazy to note all the changes. https://www.uslpdl.com/2018-top-pro...ail&utm_term=0_354c668284-9b941cc46d-50437183

PDL affiliate to the Dynamo Cavalry add Marcelo Palomino (@marcelopalo) to 2018 roster as we continue playoff pushhttps://t.co/iIUmlQrzyx pic.twitter.com/fpPLjkOslu— Toucans FC (@ToucansFC) June 28, 2018
I'd be surprised if Marcelo goes to college. He drew rave reviews in preseason last year, and all the noise coming out of Houston about him has been progressively positive. It seems like the only reason he hasn't been signed by Houston already is that they would have no idea what to do with him. You would think their first thought is sign-and-loan to RGV, but the distance between Houston and Rio Grande Valley is the same as the Red Bulls loaning players to the Richmond Kickers. Not ideal.
1015774056359055361 is not a valid tweet id Ladies and gentleman, the player who will convince the Dynamo to sign a homegrown for the first time in 2 and a half years, Marcelo Palomino.
5 goals in 5 games The @BVCavalryFC clap back to open the second half! 👏Marcelo Palomino strikes in the 46th minute to cut the deficit to one!#Path2Pro | #PDLPlayoffs pic.twitter.com/V3i3i8hJBh— USL League Two (@USLLeagueTwo) July 20, 2018
If Palomino goes to Europe, I'd think Houston will completely and utterly give up on youth development.
You have to assume Palomino is looking abroad because otherwise, why'd he playing PDL instead of in the USL? Also odd the Dynamo haven't had him play as an academy player at RGV.
Maybe it's distance. Shipping a player from Houston to RGV is the same distance as NYRB shipping an academy player to Richmond.
This kid had a hell of a freshman season at Marquette in 2016: 10 goals, 6 assists. His stats took a big step back as a sophomore, though: 1 goal, 5 assists in the same number of minutes.
