Where's Chris Gloster? Holding out for a NYRB I contract or Europe? He should have too much leverage for a NYRB II contract.
This is good news. Craft needs to start games and get significant playing time. Ironically, what's probably pushed him out of FCD game time is Paxton Pomykol's performances. Pax can take the sub minutes on the right wing (with sporadic starts) behind Barrios. GUESS WHO'S BACK ✊😎https://t.co/Jf1RrWf3f5 pic.twitter.com/rPEzwNS8t4— Energy FC (@EnergyFC) March 23, 2017
I would be surprised if Red Bulls started any HGP on the first team without first playing with Red Bulls II. Personally, I feel their strategy is sound. Start with RBII and work your way up to the 1st Team. The two teams play in the same stadium occasionally back-to-back, so it allows the squad the flexibility to have prospects on the bench for Red Bulls be an unused sub and then start in the RBII game later that day. I think FC Dallas would really benefit with that same set-up especially with those younger prospects that are really too young to go on loan to Oklahoma City hundreds of miles away.

Arellano and Zubak start for G2, as well as 17 y/o academy player Ian Lonergan ('99) at LB. Arteaga is on the bench.
O'Toole and MInes were 2nd half subs in a 3-3 draw with Pittsburgh. http://www.espnfc.us/match?gameId=473802
Welcome to the Ethan Zubak show! 🎥 pic.twitter.com/uiDxcC537I— LA Galaxy II (@LAGalaxyII) March 25, 2017 Zubak scored tonight For Orlando Redding and Da Silva started with Kraft and Gallardo on the bench.
I find it very counterproductive for Tommy Redding to be playing in USL. If its just this week because of the international break, understandable, but beyond this week, thats a puzzling one. #OCB should basically be called Tommy Redding and the What Does Posession Mean's tonight. He's been the only bright spot. #TBvORL— The Roar (@TheRoarPod) March 26, 2017
For the Timbers 2-Real Monarchs game tonight, Lamar Batista and Blake Bodily started, with academy player Jacob Montes coming off the bench. Batista...needs a lot of work. His naive tactically, both offensively and defensively. He was only a part-time starter in college, and this was his first game with his new teammates, so no big surprise that he didn't exactly shine. Bodily was his usual busy self. I think he will become a Timbers squad player in time, but probably not much more. He has ability and understands space pretty well, but he's pretty limited with the ball at his feet. Montes is a kid the Timbers got to move in from Florida. He played a holding midfield role, but by the time he came in (the last 20 minutes of so), the game was so disjointed that it was impossible to draw any conclusions. I didn't pay any attention to who might have played for Real Monarchs. They seemed to play a considerably more experienced lineup than T2 did.

With Mansaray on loan at Cincinnati, Seattle only has two YNT-eligible pros on their USL team. However, they at least had a bunch of academy players in the 18. That includes Ethan Lotenero, who I believe recently joined their academy from Boavista in Portugal. Ethan Lotenero '98 played 90 minutes [academy] Lorenzo Ramos '97 played 60 minutes Shandon Hopeau '98 played 50 minutes Joseph Hafferty '98 played 30 minutes [academy] Milo Barton '98, Jamie Dimitroff '98, Trey Muse '99, Azriel Gonzalez '01 - unused subs [academy] Christian Lucatero and Devin Vega are on the bench for their respective clubs in a game currently in progress.
LAG II should drop Kempin or promote him to LAG I. He'll be 24 in a few weeks. Shouldn't be playing for LAG II. That should be for Lopez or Sneddon.
My sense is that Los Dos have the "older" guys and the newbies there for two reasons- one, to provide a somewhat more experienced core that will provide stability for the younger guys/academy players, and two, provide a 2nd chance opportunity for players who stalled out elsewhere, like Kempin, and like M. Aguilar and T. Turner. However, my guess is that the "olders" will be on a short leash, meaning that they have to show signs that they can move to the 1st team, but in a shorter time frame than the youngers are given. In Kempin's case, that may mean making to the 1st team by next season. Also, during this season Sneddon & Lopez will get opportunities.
